vox populi big thumbnail Another term again is over the top. Indians have had enough of your bungling and bamboozling. Please give the Indian community a break and leave.

On Samy: This 'may be' my last term

Gandhi: Another term again is over the top. Indians have had enough of your bungling and bamboozling. Please give the Indian community a break and leave. Your departure will be the only good thing that is left for you to do. Fortunately, God send Hindraf exposed all your drama all these years and awakened the masses to end your swindling.

Your exit from MIC means entrance to a new existence for the Indians. Climb down with whatever grace that is left. Quit, Samy, quit. Mercy Writer: We have send him signals by protesting, shouting and stopping his car and yet he does not want to step down. We Indians really don’t understand what is stopping him from leaving. He is sticking on like a leech.

Samy Vellu, we don’t need your leadership any longer as you have brought enough damage to our community. Your appearance or picture anywhere is really agitating and leads to severe cursing. You have nothing to brag or boast about. You have more failures than successes.

The successes have not benefitted the poor but your family and your cronies have gained a lot. And you are further dragging you son into politics to inherit your leftovers.

MRS: Samy Vellu has been arrogant. Despite repeated calls for him to quit, he has challenged the community by standing in Sungai Siput. The only way to get him out to ensure that he loses the seat. Rather than sitting quiet, let us do something. Let us form a brigade to defeat him.

Let us form a group of people who will travel down to Sungai Siput to canvass against him. It can be anybody who dislikes him and it should be voluntary. The volunteers should be prepared to spend a day in Sungai Siput canvassing on their own expenses.

If this could be carried out and if it gains momentum we should be able to bring the desired change. All we need are volunteers from any part of the country and somebody to coordinate the activites. After all if Barrack Obama could do it in the US, we should be able to do it in Malaysia.

Daniel Pragasam : I seriously feel that MIC President S Samy Vellu should leave the local political scene. We need a better representation but not like the one of the MIC. We need a leader that can speak like Hindraf's P Utayakumar. We need a leader that is daring to ask, demand and do the best for the Indians in Malaysia.

Samy has got no power. The government is not serious about him at all. He gets things done by begging for things to be done for the Indians in this country. Look at the Umno and MCA leaders, For what they want, they will just bang on the table and get it done. No looking back.

The problem is our leaders. The MIC leaders are not strong. The are like puppets. Look at the MIC Deputy Chief G Palanivel, not even a single word I have heard from him ever since he took the No 2 position in the MIC.

Enough is enough, the Indian in Malaysia need more capable and daring leaders. Open your eyes Indians, don’t always sleep.

Dragonwhizzi: Firstly it is so obvious Samy is living in his own world not to mention for the last 28 years at least. He is assuming we ‘the Indian Malaysians’ are dumb. Simple actions are required now from the MIC - get rid of the entire batch of so-called MIC leaders that don’t understand the meaning of leading, have no talent or dignity and the list goes on.

What we require now are proper professionals, highly-educated and high in morale and dignity to lead the community MIC. Lastly, and most importantly, please do not get Subra to replace the current leadership in MIC. He and his buddies from MIC are just the same as the current leadership, just that they’re not good enough to compete with the current leadership in politics.

If I am to elect the next leadership for MIC, it will be the Hindraf leaders for a start. We have got the ball rolling, let stay together and ensure we cross the finish line successfully. Let’s prove that Makkal Sakthi boleh.

Casey Raj: High time you quit Samy, there is no way you can remain as a credible leader of MIC anymore. MIC is outdated in its approach to solve our Indians’ problems. Neither you nor your group know what is happening on the ground. Your branch chairmen are all there to say ‘Yes Dato, No Dato and three bags full Dato’. When you have carwash workers, toddy contractors and taxi-drivers as your chairmen what do you expect? They are totally ignorant of government policies and programmes.

All they will do is collect a bundle of photostated identity cards from ignorant Indians on false pretexts and register them as MIC members and pay their annual subscriptions on their behalf. That was what MIC was all about. It never bothered about their welfare especially when they were displaced after the estates are sold to make way for new townships and golf courses. Yes, MIC will call a wakil rakyat every year to give away foodstuff worth about RM50 to poor residents. That is what MIC is all about - Samy Vellu's MIC.

Sanjay2008: The words from his mouth were 'If people want me getting out, I am willing to leave now'. I just hope someone can show him where the door is. What else does he want, now that he knows the majority of Indians don’t want him anymore? We can know about him clearly from Maika shaire issue and also the Hindraf issue. As a minister, he should also know about the temple demolishment issue.

The MIC can cheat the uneducated people but not the youth of today. This no more the 1960s, it is already 2008. I hope that in this coming elections, the Indians’ fate will changed and we can continue to achieve our goals in Malaysia.

On Mat Taib not in the S'gor list

Leong KC: Hooooooooooooray!

On Khairy: Anwar and kin no threat

Shocked: I saw a short clip on RTM 2 yesterday which showed Anwar as an ulama, a penari, a penyanyi and a penunjuk perasaan . While I am a middle class Chinese with no sympathy for PKR, I am terribly shocked to see that clip, which in my opinion is portraying a bad image of Anwar Ibrahim.

On the extreme side, this may construe as slander and since the election is around the corner, this is definitely a form of a smear campaign. Is this an act of an overzealous supporter of the BN by the Angkasapuri staff (if yes, would the information minister please do something about it?) or a paid ‘advertisement’ in which case the censorship board or the management of RTM should be questioned for allowing such clip being aired.

This definitely tarnishes the image of clean campaign or a ‘fair fight’ for th elections and I'm very, very disappointed with this development. Can someone, especially the EC comment about this?

Anak Perelih: As I do not really watch RTM news, I was shocked to read what ‘Shocked’ wrote above. My suggestion is for Anwar or anybody else in the video clip shown by the RTM to get a court order to refrain RTM from airing them. Or they can sue RTM for it.

The opposition should be able to buy airtime for their political advertisements on RTM. If they are refused, they can sue RTM for double standard and abuse of government machinery. Let’s teach Zam some lessons.

On Lies, lies and more lies!

Makkal Sakthi: Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, our PM, lies blatantly to us, his rakyat who put him in that trusted position. Shameful! He calls for an early election because he hasn’t the gall to take up Anwar’s challenge. He cannot give straight and off-the-cuff answers, because he lacks the astuteness. He cannot bridle corruption because he reeks of it. He governs Malaysia like he would his household. He uses language not of a statesman. One wonders if he ever reads anything.

There is continued corruption, marginalisation and abuse of power in our country, a malignancy that spreads from Pak Lah to his keris -waving buffoon right down to Samy Vellu and all the way down to his peon - because you and I have allowed it. Every accused, particularly Samy Vellu, Rafidah Aziz and of recently Mahadev Shankar, promptly declare having documentary evidence to clear his/her name of corruption and/or abuse of power but has anyone actually produced such evidence to the public? We all know, no one in BN comes with clean hands.

Rakyat Malaysia, the ballot paper is your single most crucial weapon. Make the right choice, vote for the right party. Oust Pak Lah, wipe out BN and bring in PKR.

VJ: BN leaders seem to be booed and jeered nowadays along the way. It will continue and the subsequent deep impact will be felt on March 8 if BN fails to react. Since BN is filled with the corrupt and lacks critical thinking, here are some tips to win at least some votes back from the people, especially the Indians:

  • Release the Hindraf 5 from ISA immediately and unconditionally.
  • Issues a public apology to Bersih, the Bar Council and Indians for the brutal dispersion of their respective peaceful gatherings.
  • Draw up a blueprint for minority development and not dish out seasonal election goodies.
  • Call a meeting with Hindraf leaders for a discussion on the Indians' future
  • Ask Samy Vellu to step down with immediate effect

BN , you have dismayed people for the past five decades so initiating these five simple tasks won’t be difficult at all. Have these ideas never been recommended by your Oxford genius? Or is he busy recommending steps for his personal political mileage?

On Muslim groups unveil election demands

DPG: These groups grow stronger and as Muslim Malay population grows by leaps and bounds (former TDM’s aim), and as PAS and other Muslim-Malay political parties grow stronger, the day will not be far off when Malaysia will become a full-fledged Islamic state vis- B -vis, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. I’ve even lowered down the time span to less than 20 years.

The article says that what they voice out is not a threat, but that is exactly what it is, a threat. Only this time, the threat is very real. If you read between the lines, the intention to sideline other religions is contained in their views. For those who have not made their plans to leave, it it high time they do it now. There is still time. Unless you prefer to stay in a Taliban Islamic state.

On Another BN illection

Alrawa: Tun Mahathir has been criticising Pak Lah for not living up to his expectations in running this country. Since the elections are just round the corner, I would suggest that Tun Mahathir stand against Pak Lah in Kepala Batas. Othrwise, all his 'tongue flicking' aimed at Pak Lah is nothing more than a sandiwara .

On Possibly a dozen seats 'at risk'

Peter Ooi: Gerakan is singing the same old tune. It said that a vote against the party is a vote that might take away the chief minister’s position away from them. Yes, it has said this many times and the voters were really hoodwinked into voting them in.

After so many terms of Gerakan chief ministership, there were not much changes in Penang. On the other hand conditions in Penang has goe from bad to worse. Komtar, the pride of Penang is in a pathetic condition. I am sure Koh Tsu Koon is aware of it . His office is there.

Traffic jams is the ‘in thing’ on the island. During peak hours, the jam is worse than the famous 'Subang crawl'. The road on the mailand is fit only for four-wheel drives what with highest density of portholes in the country. So what is so big in having a Gerakan CM? With any CM, the condition of the state cannot be worse than the present.

On Chinese Community receive another 300mil election boost

Raj: Recently I wrote my concern on Development must not be seasonal . Within a blink of eye we are seeing another massive fund allocation, this time by means of collaboration with the private sector. As I said, any development that comes to people would be appreciated by all. But what is not right is the manner BN and its components are resorting to win voters. Malaysians with common sense will know this is another daylight bribery.

It would have been so much appropriate if the collaborators from private sector on their own made this announcement instead of Ong Ka Ting. The manner our ruling parties behave, further proves why the need for strong opposition in Malaysia. Simply put, if at the current status of a two thirds majority with all the support in place, the opposition could still create this much fear in BN to make them work (only during election), then think how much benefit we could derive throughout the five-year term by denying BN of their two-thirds majority.

I reckon this behavior on the part of BN is more than sufficient evidence for those who are unsure about which party to choose. Need more development? More fairness? Look towards DAP, PKR or PAS.

On Rose protest: All but 9 released

Choy MH: Police roadblocks are carefully designed as collective punishment on the rakyat . In the classroom, everybody gets punished for the ‘misbehavior’ of a few. In the same way, the powers-that-be put the blame on ‘illegal demonstration’ for disruptions to daily life.

Hey, get real. Allow peaceful dissent No more underhand tactics disguised as police roadblocks. We can see through this.
