On Rafidah: We'll meet in the ring

SH Huang: Rafidah had thrown down the gauntlet and will meet her opponent in the ring. That is very exciting, Iron Lady. That is the way to go or to go out. Fight to the very end.

This transition business is very silly. The government is not for sale. The leadership is not for sale. The people of Malaysia are not for sale. I have not heard of foreclosure on the government, the leadership or the people.

Yes, I have heard of closure of investment banks, foreclosure of airlines, foreclosure of motor companies and the foreclosure of the Lehman Brothers.

So do not have any private deals between two leaders - the PM and DPM, for example. The president and deputy president of Umno have no business to have any private arrangements.

The one who is Umno president becomes the PM of all Malaysians and all Malaysians have a locus standi to give their views. My view is that the premiership is not for sale to the highest bidder.

What right have they to negotiate what is non-negotiable? It is time Malaysians wake up as they did on March 8.

Stop all this nonsense of private arrangements. Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians and all Malaysians must have a say.

So I am extremely delighted that Rafidah has now come to her senses and has thrown down the gauntlet into the arena of political sports.

Let us see who the women want as Umno Wanita president.

Peter Yew: It is the season of change. All over the world as well as in Malaysia there are changes in political leadership.

Rafidah Aziz should know this and has read the signs. I am sure when the test comes, the truth shall prevail.

Better to leave when one's time is up than to be forced out. Unless the three additional months have hidden advantages we are not aware of.

On 'Fuel prices not solely dependant on global crude oil prices'

Garry Khoo: And fuel prices also not solely dependant on your (BN) comments!

If we are talking about national resources, why not put the matter up in parliament for better planning and debate among all the MPs?

Why has the rakyat only to hear from the government? It is not fair to not involve the opposition in deciding the price of petrol.

The rakyat are quite bored to hear only one side story. The rakyat needs the opposition to verify the ‘truth’ about the pricing.

On Juggling between heritage and development

Garry Khoo: Penangites are caught between development and heritage. Who doesn't want to have better development for better wealth?

If the US planned to retain all its heritage sites, it wouldn’t be the First World country it is today.

Please think again before we restrict the development of the state.

Dr M and Dr Koh knew the potential of Penang very well so why then did they decide to develop Penang as a heritage site rather than as an advanced city?

Please think again...

On Guantanamo Bay? What about the detainees here?

CK: I agree that the Malaysias government is obviously practicing double standards over this matter of wanting the US to release two Malaysians detainees from the Guantanamo Bay camp.

I do not recall on how these two Malaysians were detained but if they were captured on the Afgan or Iraq battlefields, then it has nothing to do with Malaysia and the government should not ask for their release.

They should be considered 'soilders' or prisoners of war of the US. The matter should be dealt with by the US and Afghanistan or Iraq - not Malaysia even though they are Malaysians.

Why are our citizens fighting a war for another nation? If they were found to be not loyal or betraying their own country, the Malaysian government should press charges against them or strip them of their citizenship.

On Tiff over Arabic term ends assembly sitting

Dian Abdullah: Like most MPs, Shahbudin Yahya (BN-Permatang Berangan) should just stop talking.

It would be better if MPs take the trouble to do some research and have a better understanding before shooting off their mouths.

Getting upset over Penang CM Lim Guan Eng usage’s of the phrase nahi mungkar (forbidding evil) shows a very shallow and hollow man.

The ‘evil’ activities that were mentioned by Shahbudin Yahya have opened a floodgate of questions. I believe he cannot answer any of them and will not answer. But I will just ask anyway.

- Who gave the licence for a Pahang casino to operate?

- Which government collects taxes from this casino?

- Who issued the gaming licences for number forecasts companies ( empat ekor )?

- Who are the people who legalised gambling in Malaysia?

- Who now are the gamblers in Malaysia?

Just five questions for a start.

On Seized Mkini video tampered with

Jr Lee: How can the police allegedly delete and edit crucial evidence of police brutality?

The image of the police force has been greatly tarnished by the irresponsible acts of a few black sheep in the force.

It is long overdue for the IGP to clean up the force and personally investigate and take serious disciplinary action against the culprits.

He should announce to the press and honestly disclose in detail of what actually happened and the names of the culprits, otherwise Malaysians will never believe in the police force again.

Malaysians are fed up of hearing from the authorities that disciplinary actions ‘will be taken’ and or that those involved ‘will be transferred’ elsewhere.
