The five sub-committees tasked to study the 125 recommendations from the Royal Police Commission to improve the police force - which is widely seen as riddled with corruption and brutality - are expected to submit their primary findings to the government by the end of the month.

"It should be any time from now till the end of this month. That's the time frame given (to them) to come out with the primary report from various committees," Deputy Internal Security Minsiter Chia Kwang Chye told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

It took more than a year for the commission to come up with the 125 recommendations after a number of public hearings. In June this year, the government set up the five sub-committees to study the recommendations in depth.

Recently, Deputy Inspector of General Police Musa Hassan said that 67 out of the 125 recommendations had been implemented to improve the police force but no details were given.
