Rescuers were searching Manila Bay for 37 people who went missing when two boats collided and sank in darkness on Thursday, a Philippine coastguard spokesman.

An emergency operation swung into action after a wooden-hulled passenger boat smashed into a fishing vessel near the tiny island of Limbones before dawn.
