I refer to Malaysiakini report PKR may lose out on crucial Indian vote bank.

From the time Pakatan Rakyat has made inroads and broken into BN's 'invincible' fortress, there have been nothing but complaints from the Indians.

They expect too much and demand too much and want their way all the time. The current choice of candidate by PKR for the Bukit Selambau by-election is a big issue for the community which claims that he is not home-grown and thus cannot be a representative.

But do you realise a local man was elected earlier but later resigned owing to an alleged not-too-good moral character? Think about it.

There is no guarantee a local person is better than an outsider. It also does not mean that a Malay or Chinese representative cannot work for everyone regardless of race. What is important is that whoever is elected is prepared to work for everyone and not only for one community.

He or she has to have the rakyat at heart and look into their needs and requirements and most importantly, never neglect his duties to the rakyat.

If the Indians keep harping on this kind of trivial matters and do not have the foresight and vision to see the broader benefits and development of the community, then this narrow thinking is going to be their own downfall and will keep them out of the mainstream of progress.

I do not hear the Chinese or Malay supporters of Pakatan making a lot of demands and wanting this and that. Even BN used to move various candidates from one place to the another.

The alleged boycott by the Indians against PKR in Selambau is going to bring hardship not gain. Work for gain and look at it in a very positive and progressive way - after all an Indian has been again nominated to represent the people of Bukit Selambau.

I would prefer to look at him as a fellow Malaysian rather than by the colour of his skin. Your vote determines your own future so either to be left behind or move forward towards the changes that we are all eagerly looking forward to.

If the mindset does not change for change, then do not blame anyone if progress is slow. If you want change, you have to believe in the party that is working towards a better way of life for all of us. If you cannot believe in them, then it is pointless asking for a change without sacrifice.

Be firm in your decision and be strong in your choice on whether to change or not. It is the party we are voting for rather than the candidate and it is the party that is responsible to provide support and aid to its representative.

Perak is in the doldrums and do not make Kedah face the same fate and affect its serenity and sanity.

A communal mentality is BN's mentality and if this is what you want, then keep pursuing this direction. Looking back on 50 years, was it really worth it?

The forthcoming by-elections will set the political direction of the country. Whether to continue in this squalor or change for the better.
