I refer to Kua Kia Soong's article ' Bakun dam to be much worse than PKFZ scandal ', and I must say that there are issues of grave concern to all Malaysians with this government led by Najib Razak. To him, the woes of Malaysians stem from the inability of Umno to feed the corrupt within its ranks and giving little to its BN allies.

In Sarawak however the equation is a little bit different. Its Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud takes most of the spoils, with practically nothing for Sarawakians and that is why recently there was an SOS for food and rations for some of the natives in Sarawak.

Kua goes on to say, "All this happened while Dr Mahathir was the prime minister. Wasn't he a liability to the BN government then? I was part of the fact-finding mission to Sungai Asap in 1999 and even then we could see the destruction of so many unique indigenous communities and their cultures, including the Ukit tribe. There was only one word to describe what had been done to these indigenous peoples and their centuries-old cultures: evil."

Another disturbing feature is the fact that Kua goes on to say, "As a result of my concern for the indigenous peoples and the natural resources of Sarawak, I was told at Kuching airport in August 2007 that I could not enter Sarawak."

Long before this happened to Kua, the same thing happened to Joe Fernandez who is now a writer for Malaysiakini . In Joe's case, he is married to a Sarawakian native. He is a full-blooded Malaysian, and he has been barred from Sarawak.

Yes, Bakun holds more secrets of the monies of Malaysians being laid to waste at the expense of huge mega-projects. Its proceeds will line the pockets of the rich and famous of our society, the very people entrusted to work for the people end up exploiting the people.

It is a wonder how the powers-that-be allow this Malaysian regime in Kuala Lumpur allow the Taib regime to continue to exploit, cheat and plunder a nation. If it is not stopped we could end up worse than the Congo, leave alone Burma.
