Khairy Jamaluddin's millions can be easily technically explained if he is ever compelled to do so. A friendly loan from a very rich brother-in-law, perhaps? To a society used to such rags-to-riches political escapades of the ruling elite, our attitude seem to be of benign resignation.
ECM Libra will now be the financial and corporate advisors of choice. It will be the middleman for government and corporate financial deals. Locally, at least. After all, its last foray in introducing Malaysia's investment attractiveness abroad was followed immediately by an international downgrading of country's credit-worthiness. A lesser-connected firm would have been shown the door.
Let us view Khairy's latest financial opportunism, the Malaysian way. It is but a small comfort to a tantrum-throwing lad for not getting his alleged demands that his father-in-law make him CEO of Khazanah Malaysia. Now that, would have been a disaster.
So let us rejoice that he has found himself a smaller toy to amuse himself with. And we thank God for little mercies, the Malaysian way.
Until he grows up, for better or for worse, that is.
