I refer to your report Religion & History: BN MP with all guns blazing .

All should welcome the speech by BN MP Loh Seng Kok in the Parliament. In fact, in the last 35 years, he is the only one BN MP who has spoken sense - real sense - in Parliament. Many are very unhappy that the real history of Malaysia - leave alone the constitution - is being rewritten in our textbooks.

But you cannot hide an elephant in a paddy field! People are not so stupid to accept untruths as truth whoever writes or speaks about it. With today's information communication technology, the truth can be known at the press of a key. Only thing is our children are handicapped for knowing the truth rather late in their lives which will stifle their academic progress.

The Education Ministry should make the corrections soonest and put our history books in order.

As for forcing everyone to join in Islamic prayers at schools, government departments or elsewhere, this goes against the very tenets of Islam which forbids compulsion. This does not augur well for the well-being of a multi-racial and multi-religious country. It appears that Jakim is more powerful than the cabinet.

Malaysians must be taught to respect all religions practised in this country with Islam being the first to be respected for it is the religion of the majority. We can only hope the fanatics don't spoil its good and divine name. More enlightened Muslims should speak out and write of the goodness of Islam and its practise of fair play.
