I read with envy the report Nazri's thieving maid jailed for 30 months. How super efficient our police force and our public prosecutors are in a case involving a minister.

How about the many other cases involving thefts by foreign domestic workers from the houses of the ordinary people like you and me?

My Indonesian maid ran away with some valuables a few years ago. When I went to make a police report, the policeman-in-charge told me that the police would not be able to do anything about the case and my report would be for records only.

He said there were still many unresolved cases and mine was just one of the many others.

I finished making my report feeling like a idiot and with a deep feeling that nothing will come out of it. True enough, there had been no word from the police about the progress of the case.

Why the double standard?
