Suermi Riyanto, 31, pleaded guilty to stealing dozens of pieces of jewellery worth from Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz.
She had been working for the minister for more than six years.
"Her intention was not only to run away from her employers, but to steal from them," deputy public prosecutor Samihah Rhazali was quoted as saying.
Suermi, a mother of one, ran off with her haul, which included rings, bracelets, earrings and gold buttons, on March 29 and was arrested on April 5.
A second Indonesian maid working for Nazri and detained with Suermi was later released.
