I refer to your report Electoral roll: EC chief retaliates .

I think that between Mafrel and the Election Commission, the former has a better track record albeit a shorter one. After the last general elections, which was riddled with improprieties and unfair practices, the EC should be questioned and investigated.

Let the ACA, Parliament, Bar Council and Suhakam serve as watchdogs and allow them to perform due diligence to ensure free and fair Malaysian elections. Either we invite a foreign party which is independent or, like Thailand we have the judiciary preside over the election process.

This government is a BN government and as we have seen lately, the line between the government and political parties is quite blurred and definitely not clear. How then can we assume that the chief of the Election Commission, himself appointed by a BN prime minister, will not be biased or influenced?

So for lack of a better body, we the rakyat will have to settle for an NGO, and Mafrel can bring about more awareness. I suggest that EC chief Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman not be arrogant and work together with Mafrel in ensuring a free and fair Sarawak elections.

This, after all, is only for the better of the nation. I am sure Abdul Rashid, a long-time civil servant would not object to suggestions from Mafrel. As it is, wasn't it him who spilled some beans after the last general elections?
