  • Recent events with regards to religion, freedom of expression and many other issues in this country are extremely worrying. For a nation that pride's itself on cultural diversity and religious tolerance, recent trends do not echo these sentiments.

I am concerned that the Malaysia I now live in is not a safe place for those with differing but peaceful views. From restrictive laws to being called 'immature' by the government ministers, I am now wondering if I live in a developing or a regressing country.

What has happened to dialogue and respect? Why is it that my religion and my ethnic origin are more important that me - a Malaysian? What has happened with sharing the same vision and mission in creating a better and safer Malaysia?

Do all those people who object to dialogue taking place - whether it is on religion, water, banned amateur films, etc - ever sit down and think before they take action?

As you can see, I have so many questions but not enough answers. Are there any Malaysians out there who can answer me in a rational and logical manner?
