I cannot agree more with A Desperate Expat in his letter Streamyx way to bankruptcy . As a matter of fact, I am also suffering from the inefficiency of Streamyx and it is causing me to lose my patience over and over again. I dread to even think about the financial losses I have incurred thus far.

I am living in Ipoh and when I subscribed to Streamyx five years ago, my connection to cyberspace had been close to flawless. Sadly, those good old days are over now. From May this year, my Internet connection via Streamyx completely shuts down at approximately 7pm everyday. At around 9am the next day, the connection is back to normal and this cycle has repeated itself every single day until now.

As a responsible customer, I have lodged reports with TMNet on at least three occasions regarding this matter. TMNet did attend to my problem in less than 48 hours by sending its technicians to my residence with the hope of finding a solution, which is commendable. Nonetheless, the technicians who came by on all three occasions were so amateurish that at the end of the day, my problem was still left unsolved.

These technicians suggested that I change my modem and telephone cable which I subsequently did but the problem persisted. I am 100 percent certain that the connection problem I am facing is due to some dysfunction on TMNet's side and not mine. This would explain why my connection is near perfect from 9am to 7pm everyday and goes into a total shutdown after 7pm. Besides, I am not the only one in Ipoh facing this problem.

It leaves me now wondering whether I should just cancel my Streamyx subscription for good since I am not reaping its maximum benefits anyway. Having thought about this, I also realise I am left with no other alternative. As A Desperate Expat has done, I have also sent my complaint to TMNet's head office and as expected, I have not got - and will probably never get - a reply from them.

I would strongly suggest that the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) thoroughly investigate TMNet, in particular its Streamyx division, to solve the problem once and for all. I can only hope that TMNet is not 'closing-one-eye' on this issue.

Perhaps every avid Internet user should contemplate migrating to the Klang Valley as I have never encountered such bad experience when I was there, possibly due to the stiff competition among the various telcos there providing broadband services.
