I refer to Ivy Tan's opinion and wish to refute her statements.

It is only natural for her (being in the opposite camp) to accuse the DAP of working with PAS but I am wondering what kind of proof she has before making such sweeping accusations. Is this another political spin that is so habitual of the BN these days? DAP has learnt a bitter lesson from the 1999 general election and has since pulled out from the BA coalition.

Although the BN won a clear 91% majority in 2004, DAP went on to improve on its results with Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh returning to the forefront of national politics. Even if the DAP were to work with PAS, so what? After all, with the country so full of nonsense, everyone should come together to fight the common cause of making this country a better place to live in.

Let me ask Tan these questions:

  1. What is MCA's stand on interfaith issues? Why was the memorandum to the PM on this issue rescinded?

  • What is MCA's stand on the increase in fuel prices that affected the common people?
  • What is MCA's stand on the increase of toll rates?
  • What is MCA's stand on Dr Mahathir Mohamad's declaration that our country is an Islamic state?
  • Is MCA a local Malaysian party or a local Chinese party?
  • What is MCA's stand on corruption that breeds from the top?
  • What is MCA's stand on the keris-wielding antics of Umno Youth chief Hishammuddin Hussein Onn?
  • What is MCA's stand on the racist remarks made by Umno members during the party's meeting last year?
  • If MCA is so representative of the Chinese community, would its president care to stand for election, say in Cheras (in the coming general election) or opt for a safe seat supported by our friends from the Malay community?
  • What has the MCA done about the non-recognition of TAR college degrees by the PSD?
  • As a true blue Malaysian, I see MCA as nothing more than a racist and chauvinistic party that is still living in the era of the 50s, 60s and 70s era. It is cancerous to the well-being of our nation. The party is heading for Doomsville and the coming general election will be the Armageddon of the party.

For the information of Tan, my family and I are Malaysians first and Chinese last, and for the last two general elections, one of my siblings even voted for PAS. If DAP wishes to work with PAS, I have no objection. In fact, I welcome it.
