I am not sure if the writer 'Poor Malaysian' is utterly ignorant of Islam or he viewed the act of the Taliban as an opportunity to take a swipe at Islam in the most polite way possible.

He is poorly informed and sadly mistaken if he believes that anything done by anyone in the name of Islam was carried out in accordance with the teachings of the Quran. Allowing for his apparent lack of scholarly knowledge about Islam, his acceptance of the logic is still terribly flawed.

To accept, for example, the corrupt acts of a graduate from a renowned university like Harvard or Oxford as acts preached by the university is totally out of line with what any normal human being would rationalise.

Thus, I do not think Poor Malaysian is ignorant of Islam, nor taking a swipe at Islam. I believe he was merely venting his anger at what he perceived to be being treated as a second-class citizen by the government led by a Muslim-majority political party.

I can empathise with his feelings, but would I call George W Bush a paranoid Christian butcher? I would not, because Christianity is not at fault for the birth of Bush and the neo-cons who are advising him.
