Do not vote for BN, do not vote for opposition

Though I have voted in all the past 11 general elections, I have never voted the kapal layar or its successor- the dacing. I feel that the MCA and the MIC have short-changed the very people whose welfare and interests they are supposed to represent. Over the past 50 years the rights of the Chinese and Indians have eroded. Today we have to live in Malaysia by the grace of Umno or ‘Get Out’.

Over the past 50 years, our beloved land, rich in natural resources, has been plundered to benefit elitist groups in Umno and to a little extent in MCA and MIC. We have palatial homes of state assemblypersons constructed without the local authority’s approval and we have ramshackle homes of the abject poor being demolished by the very same local authority.

Umno’s mouthpiece talks of our exports breaching the trillion ringgit mark and our Mercy teams dashing off on humanitarian missions to the far off corners of the world. Yet in the very next programme this channel will highlight the sufferings of the poor in ‘Bersamamu’ and appeal for donations to help the poor unfortunate ones. I cannot see the moral justification for the poor to suffer when we can spend millions to create a space hitch-hiker so that we can flaunt him on the election campaign trail.

The well-placed and well-connected in Umno and their cohorts in MCA and MIC have grown rich and fat at the expense of the raykat. If the crumbs dished out by Umno can create 27-year-old billionaire in MCA, imagine what the whole pie is like!

I am an old man of 70 plus and this may be the last general election I shall see. I shall die happy if I can know that the 12th general election heralds a change in our political system. I, therefore, urge all Malaysians to vote for the opposition on Saturday be it PKR, DAP or even PAS. Only you and you alone can stop the rot and resuscitate the ailing democracy in Malaysia.

Gerakan, MCA and MIC representatives in the BN are political eunuchs and any fresh blood brought in by them will, sooner or later, be castrated with Hishammudin’s kris , to serve as subservient partners in the ruling BN.

But be forewarned! By returning an opposition MP or Adun you will be penalised. Your constituency will be deprived of development and often even maintenance of the basic amenities because your representative will not be given any allocation for such work. At best, your representatives in Parliament and the state legislative assemblies will kacau and make susah and open both eyes of the leadership to the rampant corruption and abuse of power of those in authority.

Remember that if the opposition can stop or just slow down the rape and exploitation of our rich land and conserve some of the resources for the future generations, then you would have fulfilled your responsibility as their forefathers.

Look beyond the carrot that is being dangled in front of you and forego the immediate comfort and rewards that Barisan Nasional purveys to you. Ensure that your children and their children will still enjoy the fruits of our beloved land in peace and harmony. Make sure that they will never have to scavenge for a livelihood in some foreign lands as the many foreigners are now doing in our country now.

Do not vote for BN. Do not vote for the opposition. Vote for your children and their children.
