I appreciate that the writer has a more reconciliatory tone to his reply, with the understanding that ‘what’s good for the goose may not be good for the gander’.

Subsequently, as I guessed, the writer was educated in the west, and the 15 years in Malaysia is a cloak to emphasise he was educated here. The 15 years was the mandatory primary and secondary schooling and probably two years of pre -university.

Also I am glad you explained yourself about Hitler, but you are still rude to equate anybody sarcastically or otherwise , with Hitler, as Hitler is in a class of his own, a vicious killer and despot.

I was a victim of the Asian financial crisis and was on the verge of going bankrupt, losing my business, my house and probably my family. The pegging of the currency, immediately saved my business and from there I rebuilt my business.

I rest my case regarding western ideals and western educated people coming back with lots of ideas borne out of their living in the west during their student days. The point is and will be that if their parents educated them , then they should be thankful that their parents could, and most likely it was during the good economic times of Dr Mahathir’s tenure or a very nice government grant.

A message to the writer, if I may: please listen carefully, as I won't be writing in anymore as I am tired of people like you who think life is a bed of roses. If you think life will be wonderful when Anwar Ibrahim takes over, I say good on you.

But, let me relate to you my life during my twenties. I worked in a Swedish firm and my boss was not a Swedish nor Malay. I won’t reveal his race but suffice to say I was victimised. I was paid a lower salary than those who were of the same race as my boss when I knew for a fact that I was more experienced and did a better job than most of them. This, my friend, is racism.

Why am I telling you all this? To illustrate reality. With all your western rhetoric, you are failing to see the plain facts which are there for you to see. When Anwar was DPM, he also ignored the plight of the other races. We don’t need democracy, what we need is a government and also groups that will look after the needs of the people.

Do away with racial politics and the minority gets left behind. Hence the NEP, something that was devised with good intentions, and before you were born, is necessary in our country.

I do care for my fellow Malaysians, and I am also glad to see you have come back to this country to fight for re-independence.

My last piece of advice to you is please speak to your father, he might know better, as we who are in our fifties know better. I could sit here matching you word for word, but I am already busy worrying about my children, their security, future and happiness. I am not at all concerned about a fight for re-independence, according to Anwar.

Now we have young kids back from the west, telling us folk, who toiled for a living, cried for our friends, family and neighbours of all races, how we missed democracy, and how it is a western ideal.

We lived in this nation when the west was still ruling over us, even after independence, refusing to let go, until a man called Mahathir, chased them out, and asked, “why can't Malaysians do the job? That is another story. Please read Dr Mahathir’s biography. You will learn something.
