vox populi big thumbnail ‘Yes, it looks like Mahathir is sending a message to Najib - ‘Do what I want you to do or I'll move you out'.

On Dr M: We'll oust Najib should he pick corrupt cabinet

Ong: Corrupt cabinet? Ha,ha! Funny. Look who's talking.

Frank Xroy: Yes, Mahathir comes out and says if Najib picks a corrupt cabinet we'll oust him, and Mahathir is a noble man, if I may borrow a few words from Shakespeare.

Wasn't it Mahathir who campaigned for Najib's early takeover of Abdullahi's position and was it not Mahathir who claimed that there was an understanding that Abdullah woud give way for Najib after one term?

Was it not Mahathir who even threatened Najib that if he did not make a bid for a takeover he'd campaign for Muhyuddin? And is it this same Mahathir who is now saying he'll oust Najib?

Yes, it looks like Mahathir is sending a message to Najib - ‘Do what I want you to do or I'll move you out'.

We all know Mahathir was disappointed with the scrapping of the double-track rail project by Abdullah and we all know he was frustrated when Abdullah decided to scrap the crooked bridge project.

The man who pull the strings is now making it known that he intends to interfere when he once said that he will not do it after retiring. How good is he at his word.

Why is it if he is so concerned about the integrity of the office of the PM and not askings questions about the police investigation into the Altantuya case.

Talking about the police, they recently had a gathering of their top brass on March 7. It was a 25 th anniversary for the batch that joined the force 25 years ago and, believe me, they even had a 15-minute fireworks display.

Can I ask who paid for that fireworks display at Damai Laut, Perak? The top brass were all there with all their families, they checked-in, had rounds of golf with plainclothes cops in the vicinity.

Why was this meeting not reported?

On Ipoh council demolishes 'Pokok Demokrasi' plaque

Peter Yew:

May I suggest the Ipoh City Council also uproot the tree as well and the other five sapling plants nearby.

You can demolish the physical structures but the spirit of democracy shall remain in the hearts of all caring Malaysians.

Do not test the wisdom and intelligence of the voters.

On Sabah gov't slammed over RM601 mil KL loan

Dennis Madden: In the present economic climate, a loan to build anything with the word 'luxury' in it can best be described as insane incompetence

When it s a matter of Sabah loaning money to Peninsular Malaysia, it becomes criminally insane incompetence.

On 'Did the judicial commissioner err?'

Ong: Maybe someone should check Ridwan Ibrahim's background. Surely no properly-qualified legal person could have made the kind of decisions that were made by him.

On Six in court for insulting sultan, one fined RM10,000

Malaysian: Arresting and charging people for insulting the sultan is treating the symptom but not the root of the problem.

Harsh words were used because people all over the country were angry and disappointed over the seemingly partisan action of the sultan. Does charging six people make the problem disappear?

Anger still lives in the hearts and minds of the rakyat who expect better from the sultan.

The role of a constitutional monarch to be a fair and impartial referee in a political crisis and a reserve power to safeguard the democratic rights of the people.

If the monarch is also subject to political power play, what is the point of having a monarch? The monarch then becomes another politician and his position may be subject to scrutiny in future.

On Nizar vs Zambry: Apex court to hear questions on March 20

Pharmwell: It's two months since BN had wrested control of Perak from PR. Up to the current time, court cases are pending. The politicians from both parties are suing each other.

Meantime, there are a lot of uncertainties and unhappiness amongst the rakyat in Perak. The big question is ‘when all this is going to end'.

There are calls to dissolve the state assembly by various quarters. The ousted MB has requested to have an audience with the Sultan of Perak to again ask the sultan's permission to dissolve the state assembly.

Whether his request will be granted or not, the ball is at the sultan's feet. As for most Perakians they are hoping against hope that the sultan will grant the ousted MB's request.

We can only pray that the sultan hears the cries and pleas of his rakyat and have pity for them during this trying time. Daulat Tuanku.

On Motion filed to suspend Gobind for one year

JTB: I think the motion filed by Nazri in Parliament against Gobind to suspend him for a year is the best move ever. The issue, of course, is the unparliamentary words used by Gobind against Najib.

In the debate, the substance of the issue was the murder of Altantuya and this will have to be revisited and debated in Parliament.

A suspension of one year is nothing but the expose that will follow from the debate will keep Malaysian on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome.

We Malaysian are not stupid as the government would like to think. We know the charade that has been going on in courts and the acquittal of Abdul Razak Baginda.

The revelations by the French newspaper of the confession have not been debunked or challenged seriously. Is Syed Hamid Albar denying that the French news reports are all a fabrication?

Well, now is the opportunity for Gobind to justify his accusation and the speaker cannot just say that the issue to be debated is the unparliamentary language uttered by Gobind.

Gobind has to stand his ground that what he uttered was fair comment and justified in the circumstances.

Skanda Deva: The Pakatan representatives should very careful not to get suspended. The outburst by Gobind was uncalled for.

The government under BN is all out to reduce the number of PR representatives in Parliament and this was a god-sent opportunity.

With Gobind out for a year (a forgone conclusion), Najib has scored a brownie point.

On French daily reveals grisly details of Altantuya's death

Bernard: Malaysia is going downhill each day. Why are they afraid to challenge Najib to answer the allegations that are well documented?

Do the people really want a leader who has had very, very serious charges leveled against him to lead this country?

The murder must be investigated at once. It stains the reputation of the whole country.

On EPF dividend for 2008 a mere 4.5%?

Frank Xroy: One wonders how many EPF members are on the board of the EPF..The 4.5% dividend is less than the 5% we used to receive in the late sixties and early seventies.

It only goes to show how low we have sunk in as far as managing the finances of the rakyat are concerned.

The rakyat who have trusted the government with their monies ultimately pay the price. One can't help but feel betrayed.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that BN politicians are prepared to millions to get their way. Could all of these monies have come either directly or inderictly from the EPF?

On Kugan's family continues quest for answers

JTB: This is a matter that the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) has to act on, there is no other option.

The two autopsy report from the two doctors were so different that Malaysians think that the first report was a fabrication to cover-up a dastardly act by our Malaysian police.

The Malaysian public expects the MMC to conduct a public investigation and report its findings to exonerate the doctors concerned.

Likewise, the public also expects stern action to be taken against any of the doctors if elements of gross negligence or a cover-up are found.

This is a duty that the MMC cannot escape from if it puts itself as the regulating body of the medical profession in Malaysia.

On S'gor leaders make public their assets

Stephen Ng: The move by the Selangor state exco members to declare their personal assets is laudable.

More of such actions should be done at both federal and state levels if we want to see a more transparent government.

This is a challenge that the BN-led federal and state governments as well as the other Pakatan-led state governments should take up.

They should emulate the example set by Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and his exco members.

Even former prime ministers, ministers, mentri besar and their family members should be up-front about declaring their assets for the public to gauge whether they had benefitted illegally when in their official posts.

In the following months, there will undoubtedly be efforts to ridicule the efforts made by Khalid and to derail the Selangor state government's efforts to a build a transparent government but let this be a turning point for the country.

On NEP has 'deviated' from its original aim

Mike Sam : I am a strong believer in fair play. Are the poor bumis really reaping the spirit of the NEP or NDP?

One thousand Umnoputras have fully enjoyed and become millionaires and Mahathir says that since the NEP has made at least some rich, so it is helping the bumis.

A poor non-bumi Bandaraya road cleaner has to withdraw his EPF money and all his savings to pay the deposit for his low-cost flat. No discount. But a bumi millionaire buying a semi-detached house gets a discount.

Malaysia will look so rosy as long as we have Petronas. Then what happens? My humble question is, Allah or God or however you want to call Him, made all equal. So who is doing it wrong? Who is waiting?

On Umno needs to demonise minorities

Joey Thompson: Umno only represent 33% of the Malay population and only 20% of Malaysians. Why should we allow them to deny Malaysians of their rights?

MCA, MIC and Gerakan lost badly on March 8, 2008 because of their partnership with Umno. MCA, MIC and Gerakan can never make a comeback if they still associate themselves with Umno.

Supporters and members of these parties, please ask yourselves and your leaders - do we need Umno? Does Malaysia need Umno?

To our brothers and sisters in Sabah and Sarawak, please ask yourselves and your branch leaders - do we need Umno? To the component parties of BN, do you need Umno to lead you?

We have many intelligent and honest people in the component parties of BN. Please help us Malaysians and save Malaysia.
