PAS leader Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin described the Barisan Nasional government as being worse than the Mongol Yuan dynasty in China and urged Chinese voters in Bagan Pinang to rebel like their ancestors.

dap mooncake festival 031009 nizar At an event to celebrate the Chinese mid-autumn festival in Bagan Pinang last night, the ousted Perak menteri besar said in essence, the festival is about the need to "overthrow a cruel regime."

And just like folk tales which tell of how the 14th century Han Chinese used 'mooncakes' to pass messages of rebellion against the Yuan dynasty, Nizar urged the Chinese in Bagan Pinang to 'rise up' against BN.

"BN is even more cruel than the Yuan dynasty because they have robbed the people of their rights in Perak," said Nizar, in reference to the political coup in February.

Isa will cause trouble

Furthermore, he warned that if BN candidate and former menteri besar Isa Samad is voted in, it would cause instability in Negeri Sembilan because he would pose a direct threat to current menteri besar Mohamad Hassan.

"When Mohamad Hassan became menteri besar, he chopped off many of Isa's men. If Isa is voted in, he would attack Mohamad Hassan.

Nizar then went on to describe that the full moon was also symbolic to PAS because it was the party logo.

The PAS leader also took the audience by surprise and earned a thunderous applause when he sang the entire first verse of a Chinese classic, 'Moon represents my heart'.

Chinese voters form only10 percent or about 1,300 voters and observers are expecting them to be evenly split between Pakatan Rakyat and BN.

On Oct 11, Isa would be taking on PAS' Zulkefly Mohamad Omar in a straight fight for the state seat which fell vacant following the death of its BN incumbent.
