Disputed N Sembilan chieftains criticise Tuanku Muhriz over exco removal
Disputed Negeri Sembilan chieftains and the tunku besar of Tampin today criticised embattled state ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir for revoking the appointment of 10 state exco members under Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim.
In a press conference, the chieftains – Mubarak Thahak (Sungai Ujong), Maarof Mat Rashad (Jelebu), Muhammad Abdullah (Johol), and Abdul Rahim Yasin (Rembau) - together with Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri, claimed the action was unconstitutional and a supposed attempt to "sabotage" the state administration's decision that deemed Tuanku Muhriz's status as ruler invalid...
Disputed Negeri Sembilan chieftains and the tunku besar of Tampin today criticised embattled state ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir for revoking the appointment of 10 state exco members under Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim.
In a press conference, the chieftains – Mubarak Thahak (Sungai Ujong), Maarof Mat Rashad (Jelebu), Muhammad Abdullah (Johol), and Abdul Rahim Yasin (Rembau) - together with Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri, claimed the action was unconstitutional and a supposed attempt to "sabotage" the state administration's decision that deemed Tuanku Muhriz's status as ruler invalid.
They claimed the process of removing Tuanku Muhriz was completed when Ismail delivered an official notice to the Conference of Rulers naming Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar as the new state Yang di-Pertuan Besar, and called upon all civil servants to pledge allegiance to the latter.
"We therefore decree that, following the Negeri Sembilan state government’s official notification to the Conference of Rulers, only His Royal Highness Tunku Nadzaruddin has the lawful authority to exercise all the functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar under the Negeri Sembilan constitution, including attending all meetings of the Conference of Rulers.
"The state government administration shall comply and obey, and shall not commit any act of treason.
"The state government administration shall also immediately accord Tunku Nadzaruddin all the privileges, attire and provisions to which he is entitled under the law," they said this morning.
The press conference was held at the Sungai Ujong chieftain's office in Seremban and aired live on Facebook.

The chieftains, also customarily identified as Undang Yang Empat, reiterated their advice to Tuanku Muhriz (above) to accept that he has been removed from the throne and gracefully step down.
Long-running imbroglio
Negeri Sembilan royal crisis blew up on April 19 when the disputed chieftains made proclamations to remove Tuanku Muhriz as state ruler and replace him with Tunku Nadzaruddin.

However, the proclamations were not executed by the state government as the then-menteri besar Aminuddin Harun refused to recognise the decisions, claiming they were not done according to due process.
It later led to a political battle between state ruling parties as Umno accused Aminuddin, who is from Pakatan Harapan, of failing to manage the problem.
Subsequently, Umno got voted into power in Negeri Sembilan after state polls were called, leading to Ismail Lasim being appointed as menteri besar.

On Aug 3, a day after being sworn in as menteri besar in front of Tuanku Muhriz, Ismail (above) met with the disputed Undang Yang Empat faction and Tunku Nadzaruddin.
During that meeting, he signed a document affirming the territorial chieftain's proclamation on April 19 that removed Tuanku Muhriz.
When the matter was made public on Sept 6, Ismail distanced himself from the document while pledging loyalty to Tuanku Muhriz.
When the document was revealed on Sept 8, he lodged a police report and the next day issued a statement claiming he was forced to sign the document, while again pledging loyalty to Tuanku Muhriz.
However, on Sept 15, an exco meeting he chaired decided to recognise Tunku Nadzaruddin as ruler, after which Ismail has stuck to that change in stance.

On Sept 21, Tuanku Muhriz revoked the appointments of all 10 state excos, except for Ismail. The state government gazetted the decision yesterday.

This incident made me lose all respect for Tok Mat. Talked so much during campaigning. Once your party has won the election and the situation now is worse than under PH, Tok Mat stayed silent. How to respect such a person la?
These four are still going round and round. Accept defeat, their attempted coup failed. Irrespective of how many false proclamations they sent to the Con of Rulers are null, void, invalid, whichever name you call it. Do not disgrace themselves further. Call as many press conferences they like, same same, merry go round. Beware the tides already against them. For going against the Yamtuan and attempting via nefarious means to bring him down, this is treason of the highest order. For involving the Con of Rulers, this is bringing shame and disrepute to themselves, their clans, their families. Have they thought about their bringing shame to Tunku Nazaruddin, dragging him along like this? The sooner these 4 are arrested and charged and tried, then peace will come upon NS.
Just a simple question to Undang Mubarak, was it true that the clans met and decided to remove you from your post in 2025? Did you claim that the clans cannot hold a legal, official meeting without you calling for it? Does that sound democratic and following the customs and traditions of Adat Perpatih, where the lower ranks elects the higher ranks, and not being hereditary titles?
