MIC believes that the Indian voters have returned to the Barisan Nasional fold based on the results of the Bagan Pinang by-election in the four Indian-majority voting streams.

"In the face of this positive outcome, any attempt to split the community into various groups to weaken our political struggle must be resisted," he added in a statement.

Subramaniam, who is also the human resources minister, thanked all the MIC division and branch leaders who worked very hard to ensure victory for BN in the by-election.

He said initial survey by MIC revealed that the BN had won in all the four voting streams within the stateconstituency namely Ladang Atherton, Pekan Siliau, Ladang Brandwall and Sua

Betong.

"We are very happy with the results in the four polling stations where the MIC was put in-charge," he said.

"The government must now continue to improve on the conditions of the Indian community so that this election result will spread to the other areas an eventually lead to a victory for BN in the 13th general election," he added.

Meanwhile, MIC president S Samy Vellu said that his party had kept its promise to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to deliver the Indian votes.

He thanked the Indian voters for their support to BN and pledged MIC’s commitment to continue to work with the government to bring more developments for the Indians.

"We will fulfill our pledges to the Indians," he added.
