'There is no honour in MCA'

your say 'This self-serving lot go around calling themselves our 'leaders'. But they serve only their greed for power and money. There may be honour amongst thieves but there is no honour in MCA.'

Party boss faces mutiny in powerful CC

Lim Chong Leong: New MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai sees his chance to be MCA president and does a Brutus on Ong Tee Keat.

This self-serving lot go around calling themselves our ‘leaders'. But they serve only their greed for power and money. There may be honour amongst thieves but there is no honour in MCA.

Dr Jacob George: MCA does not deserve a decent politician like Ong Tee Keat. It deserves the rascals who are now all plotting and stabbing each other to stay in power despising the interests and rights of party delegates.

They know only too well that if fresh elections are held now, they will all be by the wayside. Despicable, one and all of them!

Loyal Malaysian: So the drama continues. Why is there a group of former Ong Tee Keat supporters who want him to step down now? Are they afraid to face fresh party elections?

Don't get me wrong - on a matter of principle, I believe Ong Tee Keat should step down but as he asserted together with the whole MCA central committee so that fresh polls can be called.

Fly Emirates: I wonder which two of the vice-presidents did not sign the letter. Ironic that finally Ong Tee Keat was saved by Chua Soi Lek's men.

Now it seems like Ong has survived and he will live to fight another day. Whatever you say about him, he is actually quite well-liked by the Chinese community.

I hope this episode will teach him to more humble and fight for the greater good of Malaysia, especially at this time when there is a huge capital and human resources flight. These are Malaysians who have grown tired with the politics and lack of opportunities in Malaysia.

My bet is the fresh EGM will call for the removal of the MCA CC members and that is a good thing.

New twist: Cracks in Liow-Ong ties

Hinku: ‘Serve the rakyat and Chinese community?' My foot. All these leaders care more for their positions and how much benefits they can reap when at helm.

Doc: This new twist in the MCA leadership crisis looks like one bad Chinese TV drama with no end in sight.

Samasama: Isn't it obvious now that Liow Tiong Lai and Kong Cho Ha are the ones behind the Third Force?

And it is absolutely understandable that Liow Tiong Lai disagreed to a new EGM as it is very likely that the delegates will vote for a fresh elections to appoint a new president who may not be Liow, of course.

Of the million other reasons why members of the CC (except Ong) prefer not to hold the EGM, none would hold water. The only reason they care about is the likelihood that they would lose their existing positions in the party. Lose position, lose everything - as simple as that.

Dood: Of course, Liow won't agree to having fresh elections - he was just made party number 2! But all this just shows you the kind of characters the central committee members have - self-serving.

Here you have a party crisis on hand that begs for a solution in the form of a fresh, clean mandate, and you have these people saying they got ‘other ideas' (which presumably doesn't involve them giving up their seats).

Valerie Saw: Let's be objective here, no taking of sides. In plain simple English:

1. Could the MCA people explain what is the meaning of a vote of no confidence being passed on a an elected leader?

And that leader losing the vote count which means losing the confidence of those who elected him? If he had won by even one vote, he would have said he was elected the president.

2. Does a responsible leader say he will resign if he loses the vote and then say he will not resign after he had lost? Can anyone like that be respected at all?

Or does the MCA have its own meaning of a ‘vote of no-confidence'? Or is Ong Tee Keat like what when the Red Indians in the movies say: ‘He who speaks with a forked tongue'?

My English is not that wonderful but honestly, I know enough English to know what a vote of no-confidence means and what and who a gentleman is. I rest my case.

Gk: Now we know who are the betrayers of Ong Tee Keat were during last EGM which saw Ong losing the no-confidence vote.

Ong's intention of having fresh election is to get rid of these betrayers. Smart move by Ong. By the way, the MCA is irrelevant now. Let them fight. Let's watch the new MCA blockbuster.
