Truths and lies as defined by BN

your say Utusan Malaysia published a lie that caused Teresa Kok to go to jail and have never been reprimanded. But in this case all hell breaks lose for China Press' report.

Hishammuddin wants explanation from China Press

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: The law is the law and if China Press breaks the law, then they have to face the consequences. If China Press can defend its action or can prove that it was an inadvertent mistake, then that's what a show-cause letter is for.

On the other hand, if it was deliberate, then depending on the gravity of the offence, the punishment can be as light as a simple fine of RM20,000. There is therefore nothing wrong and completely lawful whatever the Home Ministry did insofar as the show-cause letter is concerned.

What is perplexing however is that how come the same rules doesn't apply to Utusan Malaysia ? Does the Home Ministry not have jurisdiction over Umno-owned media or does different standards apply? Is there a law on hypocrisy of the highest order? Or does that law not apply to Umno and the Home Ministry?

Joshua Purushotman: Utusan Malaysia published a lie that caused (Selangor exco and Seputeh MP) Teresa Kok to go to jail under the Internal Security Act, but they have never been reprimanded. This was also clearly established to be a lie later when the mosque in question claimed YB Teresa never committed the act for which she was accused of.

But in this case all hell breaks lose for China Press ' report. In Malaysia, truths and lies are defined by BN.

Tan Kian Khim: Hisham, you want an explanation from China Press ? By all means.

While we're on the subject of explanations, we want explanations for your rabid keris-waving and spewing of 'Ketuanan Melayu' vitriol; your public endorsement of the cow-head protestors; the abuse of ministry powers to harass and detain civil protestors, Pakatan politicians and dissident authors/satirical cartoonists; your abuse of the ISA and refusal to repeal the draconian law; the instant approval of a publishing license for the rabidly racist group Perkasa; your granting of carte blanche for the vile and toxic Utusan Malaysia to publish blatant lies and inflammatory vitriol.

Your explanations are long overdue, but no longer matter. You will be out of a job in the next general election. But remember this: old sins cast long shadows.

Sentinel: There is no smoke without fire. The Malaysian press are so tightly controlled, there is no doubt that China Press would dare report without strong reasons. Maybe it jumped the gun and reported a day or two too soon, no?

Banguntidur: Jangan marah, Kris Minister Hishammuddin Hussein. Al-Islam masuk gereja hina kepercayaan orang Kristian, awak tak marah pun. Patut mereka itu ditangkap bawah ISA. Tapi ini hal kecil, apa pasal awak nak gelabah?

Police chief Musa denies he's quitting

4thGPendatang: Sigh... too good to be true. It was good while it lasted, even if only for a short while. Musa Hassan has too much information damaging to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, so I guess he's the one calling the shots right now, not Najib, the PM's wife Rosmah Mansor and certainly not Hishammuddin Hussein.

He will only resign or retire when he thinks it's safe to do so. After all, Sodomy II has just begun.

Peter Chen: In the first place, based on his performance, Musa should not have been given an extension .

Lucia: Oh, no. Such a short-lived joy for me. When I read he was resigning, I was so happy. But just after a few minutes, I read he denied that he was resigning. You should go, Mr IGP. The rakyat don't want you anymore.

We believe you do have links with underworld figures . We believe you do have some hold on Najib and Rosmah. Your police force is very biased towards Pakatan Rakyat. Who wants this type of police chief to head the country?

Cala: Musa will go down history as a notorious police officer for his role as the investigating police officer of Sodomy I, a case widely seen as the product of the executive, which was fearful of Anwar Ibrahim's rising influence amongst the citizens and the latter's threat to the ruling elites' many interests.

As a controversial figure, I hope a day will come for Musa to be held accountable for his past misdeeds.

Rayfire: Has this got anything to do with the acquittal of the former Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Ramli Yusuff yesterday? It is time the police force appoints a real genuine truthful sincere person to lead the police.

Maha Yoni: Didn't the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deny that they found RM2.5 million cash hidden in Musa's house last month?

Isn't every Umno politician only good at denying whatever wrongdoing they are accused of? Only last week, Musa denied the Royal Malaysian Police Force (RMP) was harassing Pakatan. And all the while, the rakyat has been denied accountable, honest, transparent and just governance, the possibility of enjoying participatory democracy, free from corruption, oppressive feudalism, racial politics and tyranny.

Adcin: How come China Press is so brave to publish this without confirmation from government? The answer lies in Musa suggesting it may be the work of the underground. If that is the case then Musa cannot be part of the syndicate that Ramli Yusuff was referring to.

Or that is what he wants us to believe and rally the peoples support so that from the publicity he gets, he will be given another extension.

Perakean: Whatever it is, we the rakyat, have our moment of joy, fleeting though. Judging from the huge number of comments in support of Musa resigning, it shows how much Malaysians loathe the guy. Never mind, we'll wait for the big day.

Paradox: We in Hindraf will not forget and forgive him for what he has done to us .

Bozuka: Even with Musa and Gani out, it is not going to solve the problem. There will be more Musas and (attorney-generals like) Abdul Gani Patail serving the government. Racist Umno must go.

Changeagent: I got a little confused when the IGP asked if the source is from an official channel or from the 'underground'. I always thought that the 'official' channels like Umno, PDRM, and MACC operate like 'underground' mafias anyway.
