Pakatan Rakyat youth wings today demanded that the federal government terminates its contract with public relations firm Apco Worldwide, following Israel's deadly assault on the Gaza-bound flotilla to distribute humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

NONE Accompanied by a dozen of their members, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin ( left ) and PAS Youth secretary-general Kamaruzzaman Mohamad submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak through his aide Razali Ibrahim.

                    

“It is time for the PM to take stern measures to protest the war crimes committed by Israel," Shamsul told reporters afterwards.

 

The government should also take this opportunity to sever all ties with other companies with Israeli interests, Shamsul added.

NONE No demonstration was staged this morning other than a brief unfurling of banners calling on the government to 'evict Apco' and 'don't be a hypocrite'.

As 20 police and Putrajaya security personnel looked on, the activists  chanted slogans for a few minutes at the public car park outside the Prime Minister's Office.

NONE Selangor PKR Youth chief Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin ( far left in photo ) said the Pakatan youth wings are committed to chasing Apco out of Malaysia.

 

“We know where their office is, we will go there to let them know that we want them to go,” he added.

Apco has been in Pakatan's sights ever since Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim revealed in Parliament that a number of ex-Israeli government officials make up Apco's officers and consultants.

Chief among them, said Anwar, are Doron Bergerbest-Eilon - who was the head of the protection and security division and a senior ranking security official of the Israeli Security Agency - and Itamar Rabinovichk, who was formerly with Israeli's internal intelligence organ Shin Bet and served as Israel’s ambassador to the US.

Another Apco figure, Shimon Stein, was formerly foreign affairs minister and director for the Department of Arms Control and Disarmament under the ministry.

Anwar is to be hauled up next Tuesday by Parliament’s rights and privileges committee for his remarks linking Apco, the Israeli government and Najib’s 1Malaysia concept.
