Will Najib do an Anwar on Altantuya?

your say 'Najib should do the same to clear his name regarding the Altantuya case so that the rakyat can evaluate the truth.'

Anwar to Kuan Yew: Let's meet in court

Change Agent: I strongly agree that Anwar Ibrahim should pursue all legal avenues to make Lee Kuan Yew accountable for his baseless sodomy allegations. To remain mum would be akin to an admission of guilt.

On the same level, if Najib Razak chooses not to respond to the allegations levelled against him, it really enhances the perception that he has something to hide. The murder accusation is an extremely serious one, and cannot simply be dismissed as a petty matter.

Pemerhati: When the matter about Anwar being involved in Sodomy II surfaced in 2008, very little concrete information was available and some people like the Singapore intelligence and Lee Kuan Yew probably believed it was true, while some thought it was another fix-up like Mahathir's Sodomy I.

Subsequent revelations like, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's meeting with Najib Razak and the police prior to making a report against Anwar, his alleged lie that he did not defecate after he was sodomised, the initial findings of the Burmese and local doctors that there was no penetration, the bizarre behaviour of the prosecution and the judge in not giving the necessary information to the defence, and the local doctors' initial dogged reluctance to show their notes point to a grand conspiracy by Najib and BN to imprison Anwar on trumped-up charges.

By now Lee and his intelligence services should have realised their mistake. If what is revealed in the WikiLeaks cables is true, then Lee should be a gentleman and admit his mistake.

Anonymous: Tian Chua, you cannot lump Umno and PAP together and say both parties are the same. One is a proven corrupt party, while the other is a staunch anti-corruption party. One brings down the whole country to a third world status, while the other makes its country progressive and achieves first world status.

KSN: Umno and Singapore government are the same? Come on, now. You don't like what Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) said about Anwar, but to compare the two parties being the same is not true, unless your senses take a break in your blind allegiance and subservience. Talk about chalk and cheese being the same.

Do not bite off what you cannot chew. Anwar, Tian Chua and PKR are no match to LKY and Singapore in any aspect and knowing your limitations is a virtue. You are angry, quite legitimately, but do not overreact, because things can become more complicated, more difficult for those involved north of the Causeway. Discretion is the better part of valour.

Cala: For the obtuse, say what you want. As rightly argued in public-choice theory, no political agent is that honourable, Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) included. I should know LKY more than many in this forum as I used to study for four years in Singapore.

In the 1970s, LKY was suspected of framing up student leaders (from the University of Singapore) when they came out to denounce his bus fare hike policy, etc. Student leaders Tan Wah Piow and Juliet Chin were charged in court for demonstration and destroying public goods when there was none.

Tan later fled to Britain while undergoing his national service. To me LKY was/is an aggressor across the border, while Anwar is seen as a victim in the hands of an atrocious regime in Malaysia. They are not the same and merit different kind of treatment from the right-thinking people. For the obtuse, they may think differently of Anwar.

Lim Chong Leong: PKR and Anwar should not engage Lee Kuan Yew in a war of words. LKY obviously prefers Najib Razak's government as it is easier to control for his and Singapore's benefit.

So LKY is joining the fray of our 13 th general elections and playing the bogeyman. We ordinary Malaysians want a good relationship with our neighbours. By Anwar having a verbal fight with the grand puppet master down south, PKR is really turning away many potential voters. This as I see is another Najib's dirty ploy. We should not fall into it.

Tian Chua is acting more like a dissident than an opposition MP. He has no reason or right to comment on Singapore's government or that the people need a change of government there. Singaporeans voted for PAP for whatever reasons, but that is their right. To call for change just because they have been ruling for a long time is changing just for the sake of it, and such a call for change is merely being anti-establishment and dissidence.

Since elected as MP, Tian Chua is not and cannot be a freedom fighter for democracy anymore. As an opposition MP, he is part of the whole Malaysian government and he should exercise diplomacy and not interfere with our neighbour's internal politics.

Democrat: Anwar can sue LKY, but which court? Malaysia or Singapore. Both are kangaroo courts. Remember how LKY used his kangaroo courts to reduce the opposition to wearing underwear?

Asian Malaysian: Both Anwar and the government are stupid to treat unsubstantiated hearsay contained in an unauthenticated cable as the gospel truth and react so vehemently. It seems Malaysians have no hope for any competent leadership at all.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Perhaps there are many in the police force who wish to see the exit of Umno and the return of the glory days of the police force where the police were respected and feared by the criminals.

There are two groups in the police - there are the learned and there are the blind followers and order-takers. Who knows, with so many cases now unfolding with the involvement of the police being so obvious, it is about time that the police themselves go through a ‘reformasi' and kick out the bad hats.

DOC: Anwar, I think it's time to move on with the WikiLeaks issue. After all, it is Lee Kuan Yew's opinion and everyone has a right to voice out their opinion even though it is from one diplomat to another. The more you harp on this, the more it looks like you have something to hide. Leave that man to his opinion and move on.

I think Najib is wiser not to engage this WikiLeaks issue and attract unnecessary attention to him when the Singaporeans called him an "opportunist" and implicating him in being involved in murder. GE13 is around the corner and please stay focussed on it and not get side-tracked. BN/Umno is the enemy, not Singapore.

Kgen: Only an imbecile will knowingly walk into a sex trap especially one who has everything to lose. If Anwar is one, how did he get so far? Only a bigger imbecile will imagine this piece of speculative nonsense.

Fairplay: I was at Taman Melati to hear DSAI (Anwar) defending himself against the WikiLeaks allegation and I think the crowd were fully satisfied with his explanation and clarification, and to be fair, I think Najib should do the same or at least call a press conference to clear his name regarding the Altantuya Shaariibuu case so that the rakyat can evaluate the truth between the two. But I doubt very much that Najib will do so.

Amaso: Anwar, you highlighted a vital point - why did Najib say the allegation of him being involved in a murder case is too petty to comment?
