PKR has asked its former vice-president Mustaffa Kamil Ayub to explain his remarks which allegedly questioned the recent party elections.

azlan Mustaffa, who is also the party’s former Perak head, was quite vocal in his criticisms of the party’s electoral process.

            

He is the second party member to be hauled up for disciplinary action after Bagan Serai MP N Gobalakrishnan, who was accused of similar transgressions.

Asked about the exact contents of the letter he received via registered post at his house in Kota Damansara yesterday, he refused to elaborate.

“I don’t know, but it seems really serious. I don’t think I should say, but it has something to do with the electoral process,” Mustaffa said.

However, he related further, the time period given to him to reply to the letter signed by party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and dated Jan 13 had already lapsed.

“I am weighing my next course of action as the time period has lapsed. I have not yet decided on whether or not to reply,” he said.

‘Political bureau to decide’

Met by reporters after a Selangor government event today, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said that the show-cause letter will not come into effect until the political bureau meeting decides on it tomorrow.

“For Mustaffa Kamil’s case, we have asked for the matter to be postponed until the political bureau and leadership know more details.

“The matter does not involve his personal action or statement but something which his division had done,” he said.

He added that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has also met Mustaffa yesterday to seek his explanation.
