International solidarity for Bersih 2.0 continues to spike, with Malaysians in the US sending a memorandum plus signatures backing the electoral reform coalition's demand for clean and fair elections to the Malaysian Embassy in Washington DC yesterday.

NONE The documents submitted by Phebie Thum were received by Khair Bahari Ahmad, Third Secretary (Administration & Finance) representing Malaysia ambassador to the US Jamaludin Jarjis who was absent.

Last Saturday, Bersih 2.0 rallies were held in Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Portland.

Around 350 Malaysians gathered and walked to show support to the Bersih 2.0 movement in Malaysia.

Around 270 Malaysians endorsed the memorandum at the rallies.

Besides supporting coalition's eight demands for electoral reforms, they urged the government to release all Bersih activists, including the six Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) activists detained under the Emergency Ordinance.

NONE They also demanded that the Election Commission grant people working overseas the right to vote via postal ballots.

Three Pakatan MPs - Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani ), Jeff Ooi (Jelutong) and S Manikavasagam (Kapar) - and a Perak state assemblyperson, Chang Lih Kang (Teja) showed up at the Malaysian embassy to show their solidarity.
