'What about the allegations levelled at Bersih and PSM 6, which they said were Christian, Jewish and communist-funded?'
Khairy to NSC: Explain terror claims against Asri
Swipenter: "(Umno Youth chief) Khairy (Jamaluddin) stressed that any reckless labelling or punishment without close examination of the claims and without according the opportunity to respond is unacceptable, particularly when they concern allegations surrounding terrorism."
Khairy seems to be good at cherry picking and choosing. What about the labelling and allegations levelled at the organisers of Bersih 2.0 and the PSM 6? Christians, Jewish, communist-funded and/or inspired, remember?
Khairy, you are just as opportunistic as when your father-in-law was Umno president.
Malaysian Born: Rather than attacking certain personalities, I think it is more important that the issue at hand be addressed.
The fact of the matter is that really scurrilous accusations are being thrown about with very little real proof in a manner that can destroy reputations. For me, this is slander and libel, and should be actionable.
It doesn't matter if it is the police or the National Security Council - if you brief a group of people and make these kind of outlandish accusations and you do not have the proof to back it up as in legally sustainable proof, then the victims should be able to sue you into the poor house.
Being a politician or a civil servant does not give you any immunity unless you happen to be in Parliament at the time - beyond that, all bets are off.
Here the PSM 6 are being accused with innuendo and rumour of being communists and Perlis ex-mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin of being a terrorist and under the influence of foreign governments. A precedent in this case should not be allowed to stand.
KSN: I fully agree that the Umno government is reckless in every respect, accusing individuals and groups of crimes they have never even imagined.
Any party who speaks the truth and exposes Umno's abuses are communists or otherwise dangerous to national security. This government will use all the dubious methods and will abuse the laws if it thinks those accused are talking sense and people believe them and have followers.
Speak out, Khairy, without fear or favour. As it is, you have no future in Umno, and have nothing to lose.
Expose the Umno bandits for what they are - looking out for themselves, their families and their cronies without any national interests.
Raja Chulan: No doubt Khairy is a young, fearless and principled intellect. He is not the ‘bodek' kind to agree to everything and anything Umno goons say. He may well represent many true young Malays.
I therefore think Khairy is a misfit in Umno. He should either leave Umno or mount a challenge for the Umno presidency. If he wins, he could then clean up Umno from within.
For Umno to survive, it needs a drastic and major overhaul. The Mahathir-type thinking and Mahathirism must be completely weeded out from Umno.
TehTarik: Malaysia appears to be under attack from many foreign countries. We must be the most valuable country in the world. Riches in the way of gold and diamonds are probably buried in many a backyard. No wonder Ptolemy once called Malaya the "Golden Chersonese".
According to our MSM (mainstream media), the list of our enemies continues to grow. First, it was Jews. Then the Western colonial powers. Then the Christians. Next, Indonesians. Now it's the Saudis and Wahhabis.
Maybe it should be mandatory for all Malaysians to undergo military training like the National Service in Singapore to defend our great nation from the growing threat of foreign invasion.
I am having sleepless nights thinking about the evil enemies of ours, and I intend to join a martial arts school soon.
Fears raised over possible torture of PSM 6
Artchan: They did not allow visitors to Anwar Ibrahim when the then-IGP Rahim Noor wacked him blue and black, but fortunately, someone in the police spilled the beans. Dare we hope for a few good men in the police force to do the same?
RR: The continued detention of the PSM 6 is bringing political disaster to the Umno-BN government in the eyes of the world. Communism is a dead ideology even in ‘Red' China where capitalism is the order of the day.
Who in the world would believe that these five Indians and one Chinese want to wage a war against the king of Malaysia, and that, too, with a luminary dedicated doctor in them.
There should be a limit to the garbage they charge people with, as the people the world over are enlightened by the speed of light with which information moves today.
Lexicon: The police must think twice before following any orders to extract confessions from the EO 6.
Remember that no ruling party can rule forever. And even police can end up in jail if they do wrong. How do you think you'd be welcomed in jail, if you are convicted of torturing prisoners?
Reject 'media propaganda council', journalists urged
Mamakputra's Stooge: It's good to see more Malaysians rejecting ‘carma' (cari makan) approach in discharging their responsibilities entrusted by the people in the field of journalism, but we also want to see this independence in our judiciary, police, Attorney-General's Chambers, MACC, and civil services for the betterment of our children's future.
Ghkok: After 54 years of Merdeka, our TV, radio and newspapers are still oppressively controlled. If the media is not free, how can we say that we are "merdeka"?
We are not "merdeka". Our country deserves true and genuine "merdeka". That will surely be the progress that all of us can be proud of.
Having a free media is better than having the tallest building or longest highway. In the next general election, we shall vote for the party that guarantees the freedom of the media. Surely, that is our duty.
Mob1900: Information Minister Rais Yatim is trying to justify funding his cyber-troopers with public funding. He basically saying, "I'm using your money to fudge you."
