Selangor Umno will be a filing a RM10 million defamation suit against PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali for allegdly accusing that Selangor Umno was behind the raid by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church in Petaling Jaya on Aug 3.

Selangor Umno secretary Mohd Zin Mohamed said they were resorting to the action following Mustafa's refusal to make an apology as aksed by Selangor Umno on Aug 16.

"In the spirit of Ramadan, were are willing to forgive but Mustafa wants to be arrogant and has claimed that he has documents that prove Selangor Umno was behind the raid.

"As such, filing the suit is the best way to defend the reputation of Selangor Umno," he told a press conference in Shah Alam today.

He added that Selangor Umno had appointed the law firm of Messrs Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak to represent Selangor Umno in filing the suit.

Jais had raided the church after there were complaints that a thanksgiving function being held there was aimed at proselytising to Muslims.
