Johor PKR has hit out at its state counterpart, Johor DAP's chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau today for venting his anger on micro-blogging site ,Twitter, blaming his party for the failed negotiations for seats in the state.

In a statement issued today, Johor PKR deputy secretary-general Steven Choong said that Boo's tweets could create misunderstanding about the PKR among the public.

"Dr Boo has been very offensive in his tweets towards PKR and the words expressed could easily be misread and interpreted negatively by a reader who is not privy to the details of the talks," he said.

On Wednesday Boo had posted on Twitter,"we are having problems debate on islamic state boo cheng hau in clinic with the PKR - asking more than they can swallow".

"Boo's comment ( right) is very subjective. We are asking for what we think is the best for the Pakatan Rakyat. The DAP is also asking for what they think is the best for Pakatan Rakyat.

"But both sides view the same matters from different perspectives and that is why the need to sit down and discuss so as to iron out the rough edges, if possible.

"Since we could not do so at the state level, we had agreed to refer the matter to leaders at the national level who would see the matter more objectively.

'Shows lack of self-control'

"To reveal the things discussed at the meetings in his tweets shows nothing but a character that lacks self-control and hence, failing to see the effect of his actions," said Choong.

According to Boo, the DAP which contested 6 of the 26 parliamentary seats in Johor in the 2008 general election, wanted them to be  allocated evenly among the three Pakatan partners in the coming polls, but the PKR, which had gone for 11 was unwilling to concede some to the DAP.

He had claimed that the PKR's reason was that the party's concern that the DAP would emerge as the dominant partner in Johor, throwing off the "racial balance".

Choong, who is also PKR's director of Johor's state election task force, however, said that the seat allocation is based on a formula his party had proposed.

The PKR negotiation team had at the first meeting had suggested that a constituency with more than a 60 percent Malay electorate, go to PAS and vice versa for the DAP, the rest with mixed populations should ideally be contested by the PKR, he added.

"PKR has fewer state seats than DAP and almost 90% are with fewer Chinese as compared with those under the DAP," he pointed out.

PKR though has more parliamentary seats but again almost 90% of them have fewer Chinese than the DAP's, he said.

Throwing cold water on talks

The PKR man also accused Boo of dampening the spirit of fruitful discussion with his allegedly constant attacks on PKR.

"As the deadline for negotiation ended at the state level, we were still facing the problem of having calm and sensible negotiations, Dr Boo banged tables and left the negotiation table several times during the last meeting," he said.

He dismissed Boo's call for Johor PKR to get used to the Pakatan culture as a "personal view", instead called on the DAP state chief to cease his verbal attacks against the PKR.

Choong also claimed, without specifying the parliamentary seat concerned, that Boo might resort to sabotage if not allowed to contest there.

"Boo had boasted that he is the only candidate that can win in a particular parliamentary seat and will not assist in campaigning even to the extent of possible sabotage if any other candidate were to stand there ", he said.

When contacted, Boo denied the allegations against him.

"These are all malicious lies, I will respond in due time," he said.
