The controversial sex guidebook by the Obedient Wives Club (OWC) has been banned by the Home Ministry’s Al-Quran Text and Publishing Control Division.

According to a report on the Star Online , the division’s secretary Abdul Aziz Md Nor confirmed the proscription against the publication - titled ` Seks Islam;  Perangi Yahudi Untuk Kembalikan Seks Islam Kepada Dunia ' (Islamic Sex; fighting against Jews to return Islamic sex to the world) - and attributed the move to two reasons.

“As the movement has been banned, anything related to it, such as the club and the book, are also banned,” he said.

Al-Arqam was banned in 1994 and categorised as heretical over claims that its leader - Ashaari Muhammad, the husband of the book’s author - projected him as the absolver of sinners and had been empowered by God with supernatural powers.

Secondly, the contents of the book were said to be in violation of the Islamic Development Department’s (Jakim) Islamic publication material censorship guidelines.

The Star Online said those found in possession of the publication could be fined up to RM5,000, whereas those found reproducing the book for the purpose of offering it for sale could be jailed up to three years or fined not exceeding RM20,000, or both.

The OWC, which caused a storm three weeks ago when promoted the book to educate its members on appropriate sexual conduct , was set up to teach Muslim wives how to please their husbands to ensure the latter's fidelity.

Hatijan Aam, who is also the founder of the OWC, wrote the book.
