Ongkili said that the preliminary report would be tabled in Parliament just before the current session of the Dewan Rakyat sitting adjourns.
“We were given six months, but I, together with the committee, have discussed (and concluded) that we should give an interim report before the (current) Parliament session ends,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the DocuWorld 2011 conference at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
He adds that thus far, 40 groups are seeking to speak to the PSC. It has also received a lot of recommendations, of which 40 percent have been agreed on by the PSC.
However, Ongkili refused to divulge any details regarding the recommendations.
Thus far, the Election Commission had been called before the committee last week and the National Registration Department scheduled to address them tomorrow.
The first of six two-day public hearings will begin on Friday at the Parliament building. The PSC is also sourcing for feedback through email and the MyIdeas portal.
The committee was formed on Oct 3 to provide recommendations for the improvement of the election process following the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9.
