Judgment day: Rise of the Anwaristas

VOXPOP 'I hope that this nationwide tour will wake the people up and make them realise that it is our duty to save this nation.'

Anwar on 18-stop tour before Sodomy II verdict

vox populi small thumbnail Multi Racial: PM Najib Razak has created a problem for himself. If he put Anwar in jail, Pakatan Rakyat will win the general election as they are going to get many sympathy votes.

On the other hand, if Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is acquitted, it means he has been framed and victimised. Either way, they can't win. It is a matter of which is the better of the two devils.

Hermit: The court of the rakyat, this time around, could either ratify or over-write the decision of the court of law. If the rakyat believe that Anwar is wrongly sentenced, it is the rakyat who shall decide whether Anwar really goes to jail or otherwise.

CAT Lover: Never give up! In essence, BN lost the 2008 elections if there wasn't such bizarre gerrymandering and cheating.

The ground moved further in favour of Pakatan Rakyat in the past four years. BN leaders know it and they gambled with the highest stake possible.

Whatever they tell the judges, BN has already lost any remnant credibility it may have had in the past.

Ruben: DSAI (Anwar), I am one of the many who hope that you will be acquitted. Of course, I totally agree that the case was so politically motivated and any other court in a democratic country outside Malaysia would have thrown it out before the defence is called.

My heart goes out to you, your wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and your family for undergoing such persecution.

Nicc: Defending Anwar's innocent is one thing. Is he ready to make a stand that it is morally wrong to penalise citizens for what they do in the privacy of their bedrooms?

It is not murder, not robbery, not corruption. Will Anwar call for the decriminalisation of section 377 of the Penal Cod in line with most progressive democracies?

Clever Voter: Whatever the outcome on Jan 9 - the pendulum will continue to swing in favour of PKR. It is almost certain that DSAI will be found guilty of some sort - the question is whether he will need to serve jail terms.

Indeed, it is hope that 2012 will be the year we see real change and a watershed that makes a the beginning of a new beginning for our 54-year-old nation.

P Dev Anand Pillai: I hope that this nationwide tour will wake the people up and make them realise that it is our duty to save this nation from where it is going.

We should ensure that every one of us goes out to vote in this coming elections, whether the Indonesians and Bangladeshis are going to vote together with us or not is besides the point.

We need to stop the rot by ensuring that a two-party system takes root with only simple-majority governments running the country. Democracy and the country must be returned to the people.

Chandran Sukumaran: The vast amount of illicit capital flowing out from the country - I am sure with Zeti Akhtar Aziz's knowledge - means that the Umnoputras are not taking any risk should the government change.

They are taking all their ill-gotten wealth to safer havens.

TVGS: God spared us of earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes, volcanoes, but we have to face the wrath of Umno disasters everyday in our soon-to-be impoverished land.

Armageddon: I don't mind picking an accused sodomist who is found guilty by BN court to be the next PM. He is better than BN-certified innocent crooks among the YBs.

Home Ministry hauls up Nanyang over 'Allah' logo

Galpasqueen: Another ‘Allah' fiasco from Umno and the Home Ministry. This just goes to show that BN no longer possesses the intellectual capability to see this nation to the next era.

This form of racial attack is the only intelligence they can conjure. That says a lot about the quality of the BN leaders. It's definitely time for a change in our political scene.

Fair Play: Words used in communication, whether in written or verbal form, between members of the human race are universal. Regardless of where a particular word originated or when in used universally, that word belongs to the human race.

Ironically, the word in question originated from the Arab world and they see it fit that everyone could use it. Indeed, I think they are very proud of its universal usage.

A fragile mind is easily controlled and manipulated. Is this the ulterior motive for preventing other communities from using certain words?

Masu Otaku: What causes tension and confusion amongst the public are the racists from Perkasa like Ibrahim Ali and not the publication of the word ‘Allah' in newspapers. Ibrahim Ali should be charged for sedition.

Anonymous: It is the Umno ministers who are creating problem for the people of this country. Look at Indonesians, the Muslims and the Christians there are using the same word for their god, Allah.

Some Christian pastors wear ‘songkok' as well. What have you got to say about that?
