Tiew, a severe embarrassment for MCA

YOURSAY 'I hope the Chinese community can forgive Tiew and forget the incident. We know who the culprit is.'

Embattled Tiew to quit posts to protect MCA

WeCANLive: Collin Tiew, it's not so much that people are critical about MCA being used as your political launch-pad.

It's just that you, as a Chinese, should not have been blinded by the idiosyncrasies of Perkasa, yet you allow this racist group to play you like a three-year-old.

Perkasa obviously has an agenda - a political one to suit up their motto of racial integration. Obviously, they care less about the Chinese culture than trying to get on the media bandwagon to distribute monetary gifts to these poor folks.

So next time you want politicians to assist your voluntary work, check them out first.

Anonymous: I watch the video where Tiew asks for forgiveness. Let's be benevolent and try forgive him but our advice is, he is definitely not material to be a leader that he aspires to be.

The hidden hands have its own way of guiding you to the correct vocation. Your intention to give up all political posts is timely. You will be doing yourself a great favour after this stupid incident.

You have also exposed the MCA to the people - that the party's leaders are of no substance and not capable of leading the people they aspire to represent.

Your admittance or claim of ignorance of what Perkasa and its leaders are, only shows how out of touch you and your party are with current affairs.

Those old folks you brought along expect you to lead them, especially so when you claim yourself to be a doctor, which we hope you indeed are.

You led those folks to be the sacrificial lambs. Please make amends and ask for forgiveness from them.

Sarawakian_3ff9: See, your bosses in MCA don't give a damn what happens to you when the chips are down.

You are too naive and used as a pawn. Quit MCA and join the Salvation Army if you are really keen on doing charity work.

Abasir: Good move. Quit MCA and join Perkasa and prove that they are really not Chinese haters. Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be pleased.

Also your healing skills may come in useful as there are many sick ones there who need your help.

Changeagent: Whatever his transgressions, at least Tiew has the decency to quit from all his positions in MCA. Perhaps his own morally-tainted president should take the cue and do the same.

Disgusted: Tiew, one thing for sure, you are nobler than the thick-skinned president of yours who in spite of being caught with his pants down in adultery goes around acting like a saint as if nothing happened.

However, his day of shame will come if he stands in the 13th GE.

Nik V: It goes to show what happens when you are associated with MCA and Perkasa, directly or indirectly. The saddest part for Tiew is he led others to the slaughter by giving Ibrahim's Perkasa a Chinese audience for their publicity.

Tiew's ignorance will be something he will most likely never live down for the rest of his life as people will always remember him for this, and not for any good he has done or will do.

Let this be a lesson to other publicity seekers and ignorant good-intentioned people.

1M for All: Tiew realises he had made the biggest mistake in his life. It's over and he has punished himself by resigning from all posts in MCA.

The only regret is Ibrahim or Perkasa still hesitate to apologise. I hope the Chinese community can forgive Tiew and forget the incident. We know who the culprit is.

Kit P: A branch chairman says he is actually not an active member ? I suppose it shows MCA is really going to the dogs...

Tiew: Ibrahim Ali did it on purpose

Hang Tuah PJ: Not knowing that white ‘ang pows' are for funerals and cows are scared to Hindus is not an excuse, but a blatant show of ‘ketuanan Melayu'.

Most Malay-Muslims expect non-Muslims to be aware of their customs and traditions and to toe the line whenever required.

But without any hesitation, they will trample on cow heads to purposely offend the Hindus and Buddhists, and give out white ‘ang pows' to old folks during Chinese New Year.

Trumpet Call: What is particularly disgusting is that Perkasa deliberately made use of old Chinese folks to implement their despicable act.

Belittling the Chinese community during their season of goodwill and blessings is bad enough.

But making use of those poor senior citizens to further their diabolical ends is totally unacceptable and must therefore be condemned in the strongest terms.

Perkasa is an utter shame to the religion that they purport to defend.

Kleo: I don't believe him that Ibrahim Ali did it on purpose. That's just Tiew's ploy to deflect the wave of anger against him and funnel it back to Perkasa.

He might be really apologetic about fooling around with Perkasa, but it was a foolish mistake nevertheless.

Attending a Perkasa function is one thing, agreeing to be Ibrahim Ali's translator and accompanying him while he bribed the old folks is another thing altogether.

Unspin: Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa did it with their eyes wide open because on one hand, they wanted to hijack a joyous occasion such as CNY (Chinese New Year) to show that "they are not racist", and on the other hand, they are afraid that their hardcore supporters might accuse them of being too friendly with the Chinese.

Thus they organised a CNY open house but the ‘compromise' was to use white ‘ang pows', table cloths and chairs.

But being morons, they did not realise that donations at funerals are called ‘white gold' - hence money given out in white envelopes can be associated with death.

YF: Tiew, the fact that you were there when Ibrahim gave out white packets and you did nothing speaks volumes about your own inaction. So it's both you and Ibrahim Ali who are at fault. Be a man, take the flak and apologise.

If Ibrahim can't apologise, we understand because he's an arrogant person who does not practise his religion. You, on the other hand, should know better and be better than him.

Anonymous: The Chinese are people of grace sometimes to a fault. We tend to keep out heads down, avoid stirring trouble, and sometimes even graciously swallow insults.

This is probably what Tiew had subconsciously did, he was trying to play the good guest. Perhaps the same goes for those who accepted the white ‘ang pow'.

Having said that, Tiew could have also graciously walk out of the function, taking with him those he had brought along, especially when the idiotic frog ignored his advice.
