MCA is crying foul over an anti-Lynas illustration circulating on Facebook , which depicts party president Dr Chua Soi Lek in the buff.

The illustration is of a cleaver-wielding naked man with Chua's head superimposed, with the words "If Lynas is poisonous, I will cut it off" obscuring the private parts.

NONE The term "I will cut it off" or wo qie diao in Mandarin is a colloquial term used by the Chinese to express contemptuous disbelief.

At a press conference today, Federal Territories MCA 1Malaysia Task Force Team deputy chief Frankie Gan Joon Zin said the illustration was uncalled for.

Gan said the four MCA cabinet ministers were working hard to make sure that the Lynas plant would not pose a danger to the public.

"I want to ask the author (of the illustration): Do you really hate MCA that much?

“If the Lynas plant is really hazardous, do you think MCA would accept it?” he asked.

“If you feel that MCA is not doing well on the Lynas issue, you can express and speak whatever you want, but don’t humiliate others with such manners,” he said.

Gan said the netizens were being misled by certain groups, resulting in the “vicious” illustration.

“Don’t be confused by some people with sweet words, and mistakenly regard a good man as a bad guy. And when you realise it, it will be too late,” said Gan.

He said netizens should show better moral, cultural and religious values.

“We are heading to become an advanced country, and we not only need advanced equipment but also should have people with advanced thinking,” he added.

Gan said he first heard of the illustration from a 10-year-old and later discovered it for himself on Facebook.

Hence, he said, there should be regulations on cyberspace in order to prevent the minds of children from being poisoned by such illustrations.

“As I said, there must have some regulation over the Internet, it’s not too good to have too much freedom, and it’s not good for acting so recklessly,” he said.

When asked whether MCA will take any legal action against the author, Gan just repeatedly asked netizens to act professionally, and that he will discuss the matter later.

Chua had previously agreed be the mediator between the government and the anti-Lynas groups in Kuantan over the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (Lamp), with the condition that the issue should not be politicised.

However, he slammed the opposition for politicising the issue after over 10,000 people showed up at the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 gathering at Kuantan a few weeks ago.
