'Butt exercises': State-approved harassment

YOURSAY ‘They are just showing where their brains are located. That is their cerebral message.'

Army veterans do 'butt exercises' at Ambiga's house

your say David Dass: Any group is free to demonstrate in a public place for a cause they believe in. The demonstration should be peaceful.

The effect of the exercise of the democratic constitutionally guaranteed right may inconvenience people. This is the price we must all be prepared to pay for sustaining and maintaining the democracy we have.

Wagging your bottom in the direction of a private house and then issuing a threat to the occupant is not an exercise of a democratic right.

And when that occupant graciously offers canned drinks to the bottom-wagging demonstrators, her offer is turned down for the reason that they are ‘Malay Muslims who only drink warm water'.

And the police say that this is not harassment. Wonderful for being a moderate progressive country.

At234l: I do not blame those idiots who gathered outside Ambiga's house. There will always be some people like that. I blame the government and police which allowed this to happen.

They are deliberately trying to incite hatred at Ambiga. If later someone overcome with emotions should attack her, the government and the police should be held responsible by all Malaysians.

Clearly, it is a disturbance of peace with official blessing. The police stood at a distance, discreetly, in case there was any altercation between Ambiga's bodyguards and the intruders, but I don't think it is the intruders who will get arrested.

Are we a nation run by crooks in high office and in uniform. Thank you, Malaysians for speaking up against this outrage. This news has recorded more than 400 comments, and I am glad to have spoken up myself.

Lyn: This is state-approved harassment in every sense. If this has been carried out in front of the home of one of the ministers, these people would have been booted out in no time.

In a neighbourhood such as this, a strange car parked in front of a home could be asked to leave with a mere phone call.

What the authorities do not realise is that such actions would simply highlight their injustice even further, and fuel more anger.

I did not manage to vote the last election, but I will definitely do so this round. I wonder when they will finally wise up.

Not Confused: I'm really amused by the antics of these geriatric apologists for the BN government.

To campaign for clean and fair elections is seen by them as a smear against the country, whereas the vast majority of us want to know that our elections are held on a clear and level-playing field, giving the winning coalition a robust mandate to govern with their integrity intact.

What is really sad about their misguided antics is that they protest about Bersih's objectives but seem to ignore or feel totally disinterested in the BN government's perceived if not actual support for fraud, corruption, cronyism, nepotism, abuse of power and criminal breach of trust in dealing with the country's finances.

Gobsmacked!: It looks like there is a queue of moronic groups waiting their turn to perform acts of intimidation in front of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan's house.

Thanks to the deputy IGP giving the green light. I am sure she and her supporters will not be fazed. Our deputy IGP is not fit to be one. He should resign as he has shown a complete lack of professionalism.

This only goes to confirm one of the demands of Bersih to strengthen public institutions is completely justified.

We urgently need our Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to be led by strong, capable and professional leaders who have good judgment and integrity, who people can trust and look up to.

These sadly are completely lacking in our IGP and his deputy. Their lack of quality is mirrored in their counterparts in the Election Commission.

Tailek: Is this the Malay way? This is an affront to the Malay culture and upbringing by a bunch of idiots.

If your mother could see what you so-called army veterans were doing, she would give you all one tight slap for shaming the Malay race and culture.

Can minister Rais Yatim, the so-called defender of Malay values and culture, please say something?

Tok: I don't think just because the present BN government is paying your pension, you must act like their dog.

You have fought for the country, and now we want to fight for democracy, and for clean and fair elections. We are fighting for the same cause, for the good of the country.

OMG: They are just showing where their brains are located. That is their cerebral message.

Holden: On a further note, I think it's time local and international human rights groups got involved in the ongoing saga of intimidation of a minority figure.

If you watch the video, the threats here are serious. Suaram, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, could we hear from you?

Abasir: This is clearly the result of PM Najib Razak's transformation. Stripped of the decency that characterises normal human beings, these scumbags have actually spotlighted the organ they regularly use to think up their schemes.

I am sure all retired personnel from the uniformed forces are proud of this spectacular display of imbecility. Hip, hip, hurray!

Cloudnine: The country has different sets of laws. No law can touch Umno, the rest are subject to laws made up as they go along.

Hishammuddin Hussein, as home minister in charge of the police, is to be held responsible. We the rakyat are waiting. If you can do such a thing to an individual, we can do same thing to any minister.

Anonymous #68219004: I guess this is what is called "towering" personalities. A bunch of fat idiots making a damn fool of themselves and a big disgrace to the Malaysian armed forces. Are these the techniques they learn for combat - pointing their asses up in the sky?

I guess they have never been to war. Now, they want to play-act "war games" with a woman. This bunch should have been court-martialled for their actions and any allowances or army pensions be cut. The generals should come and kick their butts.

View Point: These might be some ordinary prebets who call themselves as army veterans (mahu glamour ). They did the butt dance because their brains are located there, so the butt dance is actually an exercise for their brains.

Joker: "We are Malay Muslims, we drink lukewarm water." In one sentence, Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Baharom has brought shame to both Malays and Muslims.

Imagine, army veterans who are Malay Muslims being reduced to doing 'butt exercises' in the middle of a public road. I wonder what will their children say when they saw papa's butt in the news.

Jaded: Kudos to Ambiga for not sinking to their levels of stupidity and dumbness.

There is a strong and clear line between protests and invasion of privacy. These people including the authorities obviously cannot see it. What's new?

Mohd: I think Finas (National Film Development Corporation) should seriously make a comedians' park.

After so long trying to find quality actors and actresses, at last we Malaysian have finally found our strength. We have plenty of natural comedians!
