Dr M, look in the mirror, you're no angel

YOURSAY 'You have done so much to destroy the very fabric of our society that now it is so fragmented that it will never seem to be able to heal.'

Mahathir: I don't fear Pakatan taking Putrajaya

your say Rakyat Malaysia: Dear Dr Mahathir Mohamad, action speaks louder than words. You sound like an angel but your past actions that we had saw, heard and experienced clearly showed the man you truly are.

‘Siapa makan cili, dialah terasa pedas.' Nobody said anything about putting you in jail but it does seem like your past devilish actions are haunting you in your dreams.

If you are righteous and kind and humble, you have nothing to fear - not even death itself.

Slumdog: Mahathir, you are really stressing yourself out worrying about Pakatan Rakyat's victory in GE13. As others have said, if you have done nothing wrong, there is nothing to worry about.

You are such an angel, aren't you, being so pure, innocent, upright and principled? So I just can't fathom why many Malaysians dislike you so much.

After all, you were not involved in corruption, you didn't abuse your power when you were PM, you didn't take anything that was not yours, none of your children gained financially while you were at the helm, your current wealth that you have amassed is from your savings and you have done everything in your power to prevent evil people (including yourself) from destroying the country.

Cala: Mahathir talked as if he is an angel in our midst. If he is indeed right (read morally right), honest and God-fearing, then author Barry Wain must be dead wrong about him.

If he is that right, all the economic development books on the Third World leaders must be re- written.

Hence, what else can the future generation remember him for except creating a regime known for practising ‘kleptocracy' - a nation ruled by thieves?

Boiling Mud: For someone who shattered to pieces the integrity of our judiciary system, ordered Operation Lallang and yet denied it, destroyed the very fabric of racial tolerance through BTN (Biro Tatanegara) propaganda, lose the billions of money that could otherwise be spent to improve the rakyat's lives... and the list goes on, Mahathir ought to look at himself in the mirror when he said what he said about the potential abuse of power by an imminent new government.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Dear Tun, the witty comments and the sly sarcasm has not left you even as you progress with age. Please do remember as to who is the architect of trumped-up charges?

It looks as though you are too worried to have a taste of your own medicine but rest assured the person whom you have poured scorn on and humiliated for the past 14 years will not do what you did to him - just like Nelson Mandela not taking revenge on FW de Klerk when he was released in 1990.

That in itself should be enough to make you see the damage you had done to two generations of Malaysians.

Pemerhati: Imagine what life in Malaysia might have been like if instead of a corrupt and greedy prime minister like Mahathir, we had a clean and able prime minister.

There would be very little corruption and hence there would be an extra RM60 billion or so that is now stolen every year which could have been spent for the benefit of the people. That means we could have had toll-free roads and much better facilities for health and education.

There would not be the corrupt IPP (independent power producers) type of deals and the possibly corrupt deal with Mitsubishi to produce the mediocre Proton car. This would have resulted in much lower electricity charges and the public would have been able to buy good quality Japanese and German cars at about half the current prices.

The civil service, education institutions, the enforcement agencies and the judiciary would be run by very capable people, and unlike now, would be respected for their quality, integrity, efficiency, impartiality and high standards.

LittleGiant: Of course, Mahathir is afraid to the hilt about Pakatan taking over Putrajaya.

I am not saying that Pakatan is perfect. But there are some honest and virtuous leaders in Pakatan who could expose Mahathir's misdeeds and abuse of power during his 22 years as prime minister.

Mahathir says that he may be jailed on false charges. What false charges is he afraid of? He is scared and that is why he is taking pre-emptive action. He can later accuse Pakatan of fabricating charges against him.

Baiyuensheng: But sir, all those years you were a PM, you have directly encourage and promoted corruption practices and maybe actually committed corrupted acts through proxies and has destroyed the very fundamentals check and balance mechanism in this country, so that you can do whatever you want.

You gamble away our money through currency speculation and attempted to cover the tracks and lied to the Malaysian public.

Oh yes, you refrained your children from doing business but he is now a billionaire - sure, we believe you.

You have done so much to destroy the very fabric of our society that now it is so fragmented that it will never seem to be able to heal. Thanks for your 'contributions'.

Anonymous #47497449: Just a dream - if only we can charge an entrance fee to see our great former PM sitting in a prison cell, I think we can make a good fortune and give the money back to the government.

Clearly, Mahathir can't see his own baloney
