A Kelantan divorcee has blamed PAS for the collapse of her marriage, charging the Islamic party with favouring the Chinese community.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia today, Che Hasnah Che Ahmad alleged that her former husband, Yahaya Ibrahim, had been incited by his PAS friends to abandon her for being an Umno member.

"Two, three days before the divorce he looked different, he asked me to join PAS or he would abandon me," she was quoted as saying.

Asked why she did not accede to his request, she accused PAS of giving priority to the Chinese community over the Malays.

NONE "Now in Kelantan, MB Nik Abdul Aziz (Nik Mat) gave a lot of land to the Chinese, they are favouring the Chinese but not the Malays or Umno members," she said.

She also took a swipe at PAS' Islamic credentials, saying that the party's policies have resulted in "divorces", unlike Umno's.

She told the Umno-owned daily that the party has united the Malays and Islam as depicted over television and radio.

"But my former husband didn't want to watch TV and radio, he only read Harakah (the PAS organ)" she said.

The 61-year-old also said she was not sorry about the divorce, and would not accept her husband's request for reconciliation should he lay the condition that she abandon Umno first.
