Perak DAP Social Youth (Dapsy) chief Wong Kah Woh is questioning the state government's decision to award 32.07 acres to an Umno-linked shell company with allegedly no experience in housing development.

He citing information obtained from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) saying that the company concerned was registered in late 2010 with a paid-up capital of RM2.

However, about a year later, it was awarded the land in Kamunting for housing development.

"(This company) has no background and experience in housing development, but was able to get this piece of land from the state government. What are the government's guidelines?" he asked in a press statement yesterday.

NONE Wong ( left) also questioned why the "prime land" was awarded to the company without an open tender.

Wong, who is also the Canning assemblyperson, pointed out that the company's shareholders and many of its board members comprise Umno leaders.

"From the search of this company's profile, it shows that the whole process of awarding the land is questionable. The BN-led state government must answer each of the issues and let the people decide," he said.

Malaysiakini is withholding their names and the name of the company pending their response.

Wong has also furnished documents purportedly from CCM and the Perak Land and Mineral Director's Office to back his claims.
