Why kid gloves for BN, sledgehammer for DAP?

YOURSAY 'Pakatan taking from Hindraf's blueprint is ‘plagarism', but with BN it is ‘incorporated'. Why the difference in tone?'

BN adopted some of our demands, says Hindraf

your say Quigonbond: I'm curious why Hindraf would be happy that BN promises to "look into" their demands, and yet pan DAP's Gelang Patah Declaration, which by and large agrees with Hindraf's demands except for those racist ones.

What Hindraf really needs is to calm down and look at the facts. They know that they stand a much better chance of getting their concerns addressed under a Pakatan Rakyat administration.

Speechless: Hindraf adviser N Ganesan, why kids' gloves for BN and a sledgehammer for DAP?

According to you, BN has incorporated some elements of the Hindraf blueprint, and you wish to study it. What's there to study when they have not endorsed your blueprint in total?

What happened to comments such as "plagiarism" , "it's a joke" that Hindraf used to describe DAP's Gelang Patah Declaration? Yes, we can see where this is going.

Bijan: BN's manifesto did not even mention the 350,000 stateless Indians, which is one of the most important issues for the community, but Pakatan did. Now, Hindraf approvingly says BN has adopted a few elements in its blueprint? What a joke!

DAP's Gelang Patah Declaration fulfilled 14 out of 18 points in the Hindraf blueprint, and you described them as copycats.

But BN has only a few, yet you said you would study them. Why the double standards? It's very clear you are BN's agent out to split opposition votes.

Tiru: My thoughts exactly. With Pakatan adopting most of Hindraf's blueprint, they are being copycats, but with BN it is "incorporated". Why the difference in tone?

An organisation like Hindraf should be objective and should be able to see through the different promises. After all, they have been bitten once.

Caripasal: Perhaps you want a debate with BN chief Najib Razak (like the way you challenge DAP leader Lim Kit Siang for a debate)?

WeROutInTheOpenNow: Sad. I hope my non-Tamil brethren will not take all Tamils or Indians as supportive of these two Hindraf brothers and their supporters.

Some of these supporters are going to be very, very gravely disappointed when this unravels even further, as it inevitably will.

Better My: Even if BN's manifesto is all about the Indians, and there are no Indian specifics in Pakatan's manifesto, only fools like the twin-headed Hindraf and Human Rights Party (HRP) would still fall for the snake oil merchant's tricks to uplift the Indian poor.

Pakatan's manifesto supports all of Malaysia's poor, including Indians. If Pakatan doesn't follow up on this, the rakyat would put a flaming torch on Pakatan's butt.

Many smart Indians, from the estates or urban centres, will progress based on merit and result in a much higher productivity for country. This is another clear Pakatan policy with not a word of ‘Indian' explicitly stated.

Just as in a developed nation's party's polices, not a word of Indian is ever mentioned but the Indians in those countries are doing very well, and enjoy equal opportunities as others.

I hear from an Indian Malaysian in Australia today that their 11th celebration of Holi Mahotsav in Sydney has been a huge success again.

How I wish the Indians here are like the Indians in other developed countries - they vote for the best party to run the country, not for specific race interests.

Tpn: Hindraf should go and campaign for BN and let's see what they give you after that if not peanuts. People never learn, do they?

Hplooi: Just adopting 'window-dressing' measures will not solve the problem. This is the BN model of outsourcing minority races to 'compradors' (or 'mandores' if you like).

The root cause of race relationships and nation building must be addressed. I do not see any 'will' (political or otherwise) from the hegemon in BN to accede to a more liberal policy on race relationships.

Ultimately the compradors who play along with the relationship will themselves be corrupted because window-dressing will never to enough to assuage or solve the Indian political situation.

Kumara: I am sick and tired of all this nonsense, the thievery, the self-centred corrupt leaders. What we need now is to think outside the box.

Why not merge all the Indian parties to be helmed by a PAS leader for a change? Let's once and for all move away from race-based politics. Indians should vote PAS.

Peaceloving: I agree with Kumara, it is high time that the Indians who want change stand by our principles and not fall prey to race-based politics.

Robert Lim: Hindraf, don't worry too much, go and get your mandate from whoever it is for those estate workers and stateless Indian Malaysians who had been wronged all this while and nobody cared about until you rose.

Absalom: Just when most people see a real chance to get rid of BN's race-based politics and all the evils that come with it, another opportunistic bunch comes along, from the looks of it, having already done a deal with BN and now waiting to throw the spanner in the works of the Pakatan campaign.

It is funny that most Indians we talk to, seem to have lost faith in the BN regime, are supportive of the call for change and are deeply disturbed by this new self-appointed champions of the Indian Malaysians.

PCIM: I am really surprise that Hindraf is so naive. For 55 years, Indians have largely been ignored and often marginalised. How is it in their reasonable mind to still negotiate with BN and earn a promise to look into their plight?

It's better to be humble enough to work with Pakatan and give hope and a better future for our future generations.

Rahman Putih: We Malays need to support the Hindraf blueprint. It is a solution for our fellow Indian Malaysians. Whichever party is able to adopt its blueprint with sincerity deserves support.

What is the past can't be rectified, but it can be remedied now henceforth if political parties can come into term with Hindraf and accept their equitable solution for Indian Malaysians.
