Uphill task for DAP to win Johor Malay votes

VOXPOP 'The biggest worry I have for GE13 is whether Pakatan can secure at least 35 percent of the votes from Malays.'

'Malay nationalism' a hurdle for Johor Pakatan

vox populi small thumbnail Omega: Pakatan Rakyat should focus on convincing the Malays in Johor that it is human nature that we all want to come together to share our lives.

In the early days of human history, even caveman knew if they cooperate, they can hunt and gather more food and take better care of each other.

This aspect of our nature is not a big secret - if you are successful in life, wouldn't the success taste sweeter if others can rejoice in it? How happy can you be if you are celebrating your success alone.

That is why I always feel that ethnic or cultural segregation/isolation is not a sustainable path forward; even China and Japan had learnt it the hard way that if they stay isolated and stagnant for too long, they will be dominated by foreign forces.

ACR: The Malay middle ground in Johor has a few choices:

1) Have more Umno leaders and their families getting billions in contracts for worthless projects or have those billions put to good use for the ordinary Malays and others.

2) Realise the lies purveyed by the MSM (mainstream media) and that the Internet provides a level-playing field where idiots like Umno-linked blogger Papagomo have an existence alongside credible websites like Malaysiakini .

Anonymous_4030: Change should start from DAP. Party adviser Lim Kit Siang should have retired from politics. He is the last person to talk about change

Pahatian: Anonymous_4030, DAP has more than 50 years ago been advocating a Malaysian Malaysia (which what incumbent PM Najib Razak's 1Malaysia should be) and are still struggling to do so for a better future for all.

This old man, Kit Siang, has gone to jail a couple of times and still has the energy to fight on until all Malaysians are free from the crutches of Umno-BN. Can you do that, Anonymous_4030?

SMC77: The biggest worry I have for GE13 is whether Pakatan can secure at least 35 percent of the votes from Malays.

It is true that if Pakatan can secure that level of support, it can win a fair share of parliamentary seats in Johor and the political tsunami will at last hit the last stronghold of BN.

LJC: 'Malay nationalism' a hurdle for Johor Pakatan, and 'Chinese nationalism' a gift for Penang Pakatan.

Slow start for Liow in Bentong

Disgusted: BN hooligans come in large numbers and are escorted by police who watch the clashes without lifting a finger. That's the modus operandi of BN.

Why the BN supporters did not catch this hooligan in Bentong and whack him up as they have the power to do so. Even the police would help them to catch this hooligan and give him a bashing themselves because the man is apparently from Pakatan Rakyat.

Funny isn't it that they did nothing and let him go. What does it tell everyone? He must be their own kind, doing it to make it look like he is a Pakatan supporter. Stop fooling rakyat, MCA.

Anonnona: The difference between Pakatan and BN is that Pakatan publicly condemns all acts of hooliganism, while BN does not.

Nabib: DAP candidate Wong Tack, please bring out and manifest the power of love which you mentioned in your interview with KiniTV.

I believe all people in Himpunan Hijau, who are lovers of our environment, protectors of our future generations irrespective of race, supporters of DAP, PAS and PKR and other progressive and enlightened souls from all parties, should be able to demonstrate again and again that those who support Pakatan are made up of peaceful, loving and civilised people.

Those scenes of hooliganism are indeed created by those who are fearful of losing power. They are using the outdated scare tactics, evidenced by those big billboards along the North-South highway.

As health minister, Liow Tiong Lai has helped many people in need; one of my relatives and a good friend included. His good deeds can't be denied and should be appreciated.

But unfortunately, he served and intend to continue serving the wrong party, which supports racial politics, condone corruption and political hooliganism.

In addition, he will not be in the position to go against the BN's decision on the Lynas rare earth plant to protect the health of our rakyat.

Heavenly King: Liow, speaking as health minister, confirmed that the police did not shoot tear-gas canisters or spray chemical-laced water into Tung Shin Hospital compound during the Bersih 2.0 rally.

But a group of medical specialists from the hospital proved he had lied .
