DAP has confirmed that former Selangor speaker and Sungai Pinang assemblyperson Teng Chang Khim has been chosen to represent the party on the Selangor executive council.

NONE In a statement today, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said that Teng ( left ) will join Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah, who was executive councillor (exco) in charge of new village developments in the previous term.

"Teng has requested that he be allowed to switch from the Speaker's post to state exco and I have acceded to his request. Ean Yong will be retained as Selangor exco for a second term," he said.

He added that other DAP representatives on the council will be announced at a later date pending discussions with Selangor Pakatan Rakyat component parties.

Lim said that Selangor DAP chairperson Teresa Kok and her deputy Tony Pua will represent DAP in the discussions.

Until a final decision is arrived at, there will be no annoucement , he added.

Past plays kingmaker

PKR had held four exco posts, DAP three and PAS three in the previous line up, with Kok, Yong and Ronnie Liu representing the DAP. Kok did not contest a state seat in the recent polls.

NONE Malaysiakin i reported last week that Selangor PAS is likely to drop its 2008 term exco members appointed by its former state chief Hasan Ali ( right ), namely Selat Kelang assemblyperson Halimah Ali and Cempaka assemblyperson Iskandar Samad.

Ahmad Yunus, who replaced Hasan following the latter's sacking from PAS, is expected to retain his spot.

It is also learnt that PKR Selangor chief Azmin Ali is also vying for a spot, bringing along with him Batu Caves assemblyperson Amiruddin Shari and Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

If true, the latter two are likely to replace incumbent excos Dr Xavier Jeyakumar and Elizabeth Wong.

Aziz Bari as speaker?

Another incumbent PKR exco Yaakob Sapari is expected to be dropped for alleged poor performance, while Rodziah Ismail may be retained.

NONE Meanwhile, today's Sinar Harian speculated that PKR's candidate for Sabak Bernam Abdul Aziz Bari ( left ) will be appointed Selangor speaker.

It also reported that Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh and Bukit Gasing assemblyperson R Rajiv will likely fill the remaining two DAP spots on the exco line-up.

However, the daily speculated that PAS may place Hulu Kelang assemblyperson Saari Sungib as exco in charge of Islamic affairs, and push the incumbent exco to a new portfolio-youth and sports.

It also speculated that incumbent excos Iskandar, Halimah and Yaakob are likely to be retained.
