YOURSAY 'Justifying another's wrongdoing because someone else had done likewise will light the fuse that will burn all of us.'

Retribution is quick if you're sex bloggers

your say Anonymous #66797900: No one has the right to insult another religion. The fact that no action was taken against Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin, does not mean that other evil minded individuals can creep out of their holes and start doing the same.

We must all unite and take a stand against those who insult any religion. Justifying another's wrongdoing because someone else had done likewise will light the fuse that will burn all of us.

AngryBird: I agreed that controversial bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee had belittled Islam and action should be taken, but what about Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali and university lecturer Ridhaun Tee Abdullah, who openly belittled other religions?

Ace: This is a good article that describes the sad but real situation in Malaysia. But Mr RK Anand, the title of the article is wrong. It should be ‘Retribution is quick if you are not Umnoputras' because in Prime Minister Najib Razak's 1Malaysia, the classes of citizens is clear cut:

First class: Umnoputras

Second class: Cronies, close friends and strong supporters of Umno

Third class: Malays/Muslims

Fourth class: Members of other BN parties

Fifth class: Other Malaysians

And it is not at all surprising that our race relations have come to this low level when you have false religious scholars like university lecturer Ridhuan Tee Abdullah teaching "ethnic relations". What a joke.

Not Confused: Najib may or may not believe in his own 1Malaysia slogan, but he has zero control over or support from some of his equally clueless colleagues, who constantly shoot him, and themselves in the foot every time they open their mouths. It really would be very amusing if it weren't so sad and serious.

Ant: I believe every religion teaches one to be tolerant and forgive others of differing religion. Hence, these two young adults have apologised, what else the attorney-general and Umnoputras want?

Onyourtoes: Many, including a large number of non-Muslims, have condemned the act of this couple.

What they did was stupid, but behind our mind we also feel that they probably did not harbour the malice like what most full-time politicians do. They are probably just fame seekers or outlandish individuals. I don't think they are racists and bigots.

But how the authorities reacted thus far clearly demonstrated their biased, racist and supremacist tendency. Hey, we don't label them all these for no reason, right?

Haveagreatday: Thank you for pointing out so poignantly the hypocrisy of our government. The Umnoputras have not gotten it as yet - this is the sort of selective persecution that has turned so many of the rakyat against the government. Will they ever learn?

Abasir: It appears that under Article 153 of the federal constitution, Malay Muslims alone have the singular privilege of sensitivity and hurt anytime a racial or religious slur comes their way. All others in Najib's 1Malaysia, it would appear, are expected to grin and bear with it.

That is the sole reason for the regime to act the way it does. That is the only reason a simple apology for a religious slur by an allegedly known Muslim racist is enough to declare him a " winnable candidate " by the regime. There really cannot be any other explanation.

Gordon Gecko: I hope the Muslim authorities punish Alvin and Vivian to the maximum. From here on, let's wait and see if the guardians of Animal Farm practice what they preach the next time one of their kind utter the same racist remark against the non-Muslims.

Little Buddha: The difference between Alvivi (online moniker of Alvin and Vivian) from the others is that they are openly defying the system, stating they will be back with a new site even if their current Facebook page is shut down.

We, the rakyat, do not need such agents of trouble. Enforced the law and show what people's power and unity can do to wrongdoers.

Remember Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim is in consensus with his BN counterpart to nail the two troublemakers. Just do it.

Tiru: Anand, I agree with you absolutely. The other mainstream media should have the courage to write these kind of articles.

Insulting or making fun of any religion should not be tolerated and action should be taken, regardless of the religion offended.

Franco: I may beg to differ - what the lovebirds did is their freedom of expression. If this is taken in a negative context, then we Malaysians of Hindu faith should have been more angry for the insentivity shown by almost all Malaysians of Muslim faith when beef is served in all Malay or Muslim official functions or otherwise when the function is attended by Hindus.

What is really important is the we Hindus practice tolerance. This has to inculcated in all Malayisians.

Ganesalingam: Ninety-nine percent of hotels that serve buffet have got no regard for Hindus, Buddhist and those whose religion forbids the consumption of beef.

Look around and you will see that they have no regard for other races. You will always find beef put in the same shared covered container with fish, etc, and beef satay and chicken share the same plate.

So maybe the sex bloggers went to the same school as the hoteliers and so forth.

SRMan: There are many good Muslims in Malaysia and I am sure many are ashamed of the blatant double standard practiced by the authorities.

Superperak: As a Muslim, I totally agree with the views expressed by the author. Islam teaches us to be fair regardless of race or religion.

Boycott MSM: No one should insult each others' religion but there should be no double standards and strict enforcement.

Whether you are a Chinese, Malay or Indian does not matter. All religions must be respected. No double standards, for heaven's sake.

JomUbahUbah: All Malaysians already know that corrupt Umno and BN practice two laws - one law for their cronies and the law of the jungle to others who happen to step on their tails.
