Umno, is the beach-front land yours to give?
YOURSAY ‘First there will be denial, followed by admission when caught red-handed, finally, there will be 'What's wrong with that'?'
MB: Yes, land given to Umno reps, what's wrong?
Onyourtoes:
Receiving the land from the state government was in line with common practice. So let's reveal all the lands issued to menteris besar (MBs), chief ministers (CMs), ministers, exco members, MPs and state assemblypersons in all the states in Malaysia. Let's see how much the total was worth.
Do we need a better reason to know why politicians will fight till death to stay in power? I always have goose pimples when I hear politicians claiming to fight for king, religion, country and the people.
CiViC: Thieves steal, in Umno's case, they do it in broad daylight and are proud to admit it. They are worse than robbers.
Wira: Umno leaders are now claiming that the receiving of choice state land by them is a common practice.
Of course, Umno had legalised the coveting of public properties by greedy politicians. This self-enrichment practice had already been stopped in Pakatan Rakyat states.
Appum: As with everything, first there will be denial, followed by admission when caught red-handed, finally, there will be the arrogance of 'What's wrong with that?'. In Malaysia, corruption is not wrong.
Joker: I have a big family and I am rich. I employ a butler to oversee my legion of maids and gardeners. One day, I found out that my butler has given away some of my jewellery to some of my maids.
When I asked him why did he gave away my stuff and asked for them back, he replied, "What is wrong? What is the point of returning? The maids worked hard and the jewellery is a way of showing appreciation for doing their job."
I promptly fired him and charged him with stealing.
Justice seeker: The irony is that 47 percent of the Orang Asal of Sabah and Sarawak and the orang kampungs of peninsular Malaysia elected these leaders to run the country. These corrupted and arrogant leaders in turn steal land and money.
After which, they lead a ‘maharaja' lifestyle. Those stupid fools who voted for them lead a life of "Kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang". I don't know when they will use their brains.
PS: Oh, people of Terengganu, do you buy that "there is nothing wrong in giving land (the best pieces) to the elected representatives, kononnya in appreciation for their services?
Did not the people of Terengganu already contribute to the big fat allowances and perks for the elected representatives? Apa lagi mahu ?
It looks like it's another standard operating procedure for the state government. Bayangkan lah beberapa kali ganda MB akan terima .
Baiyuensheng: They just don't understand the concept of 'conflict of interest'. Tsk, tsk. That's why we mustn't put stupid people in charge of running the country.
Just imagine, when they retired, they are picked to head a government-linked company (GLC). The country will bleed to death standing.
Iamleavingbutdecidedtostay: Oh my god. The arrogance with which they respond. Umno really thinks this land is theirs to give and take as they please.
This is corruption, cronyism and all that is wrong. Why is this not being reported to the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)?
Amalgam: Why must the land be given to elected representatives if it's the ‘people first' slogan the BN-led state government is trumpeting? Why doesn't it give the land or a small portion of it to a poor fisherman to build a home?
No Fool: Umno leaders have no shame for helping themselves to get free state land and still claim that it is proper. This is daylight robbery and outright corruption and those involved are getting away with murder.
How the rakyat accept such a corrupt state government in Terengganu? Malaysia will definitely go down the drain with such Umno leaders running the country.
Fair&Just: Really, these goons are very arrogant and corrupt. No wonder all want to join Umno as the benefits given are obscene and unconscionable.
Lover Boy: The Terengganu MB is not only arrogant but utterly beyond redemption. The land belongs to the state of Terengganu, it belongs to the people of Terengganu. It has a beach frontage and can realise a high value.
The state should, instead of giving the land to Umno cronies, could have undertaken a development project. This will benefit the people and will generate income for the state.
PAS is correct in questioning the Umno ruling government, to take back the land and surrender it back to the state.
Umno leaders have no business turning state land for their own personal use. This is not Sarawak, where the white-haired raja is king.
Gen Half Track: Yes, it is ‘Untuk Ugama, Bangsa dan Tanah Tepi Laut'.
