“Who said so?... So far I have never heard of any politicians involved in gangster societies.
“But if we investigate and find out that this is true, we will take the right action,” he told reporters after attending the Hari Raya open house at the Selangor police contingent headquarters today.

had yesterday reported that a number of local heavyweight politicians were
backing
secret criminal gangs, with several even becoming advisers to the triads.
It further reported that these groups are part of 10 secret societies, comprising Chinese, Malay and Indian gangster groups, which among others, include Indian-based '04 gang', '08 gang', '21 gang' and '36 gang'; Chinese-dominated 'Hong Shun Tang', '3821', 'Wu Se Qi' (five-coloured flag), 'Hong Men' and 'Hua Ji Dang'; and Malay-based 'Geng 3 Calit'.
Meanwhile, as the Home Ministry had earlier declared 49 gangs as unlawful under the Societies Act 1966, Khalid said that now the police can take action against them under the Act.
“So besides the Prevention of Crime Act 1959, now we can take action under the Societies Act 1966.
“If (anyone) wants to become members of a gangster society, please be prepared to face our action,” he added.
Nevertheless, he refused to name the ‘04 gang’ as the most “violent” group as suggested by the press.
“I don’t want to say which one is more dominant (over the others) but all of them are the same, that is gangster societies,” he added.
