Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and veteran lawyer Karpal Singh will initiate legal action against former Permatang Pauh BN candidate Mazlan Ismail and Utusan Malaysia in the next few days.

This will be done if there is no feedback in the coming days, after a legal letter was sent to them on Sept 10.

NONE Karpal said Utusan acknowledged receiving the letter and said it would revert. However, he noted that there has been no development since.

Mazlan ( left ) claimed to have received several sacks of letters from an unknown person alleging Anwar paid Karpal's law firm RM50 million in legal fees to bribe deputy public prosecutors and judges.

He however said that he would not be apologising for this as he had only sought an explanation from them.

"My legal firm had on Oct 4 sent letters giving Utusan an ultimatum within seven days of receiving these letters failing which Anwar and Karpal will proceed with the matter without any further reference to them," Karpal warned in a statement.

"It is obvious that Utusan is having cold feet after having made very serious false and malicious allegations against both of us," he added.
