your say, YoursayWg321: These British investors have to learn the hard way. Normally foreign investors in Malaysia always insert a clause in their joint venture agreement to say that in case of dispute, arbitration must be settled in a Singapore court or elsewhere.

Today in Malaysia the separation of power between the executive and the judiciary is very, very blur. If it involves Umno members, it will take years before it gets settled and most of the time, the plaintiff will lose.

Just look at the Mongolian woman, Altantuya Shaariibuu. Nobody was found guilty even though she was blown into pieces by military-grade C4 explosives.

Also look at the recent court case of Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ). A former BN minister was found not guilty of cheating even though billions of Malaysian ringgit was lost.

Mohamad Abdul Malik: They invested in a company owned by an ex-Umno treasurer and either they were cheated or the business was a total flop.

If they were cheated, then the government has to take action. If the business was not profitable or simply failed than it just an investment gone wrong. The investors should have factored the risks involved in any investment before putting their monies in the venture.

But to accuse Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim of being the instigator was just stretching the truth a bit too far. Surely Anwar could not be blame if these investors were cheated.

And we too should not condone cheating by anyone deemed close to our leaders as it affects the nation's credibility if no action is taken.

Chipmunk: To the investors from British Victims of Investing in Malaysia (BVIM), I must say that since you have given your money to an Umno leader, it is as good as gone and PM Najib Razak is not going to be bothered by it as long as Umno is in power.

You are not the only victim of fraud in Malaysia. Anyone who does not have close links with Umno are going to lose big time.

That was how we, the citizens who voted in the last GE13 election, feel. We were cheated and there is nothing we can do on our own unless there is international pressure.

So please press on and go after these culprits. Use every avenue, including the Queen's Counsel, to win your case.

CQ Muar: This is just another example of those in Umno cheating and hoodwinking innocent victims.

Perhaps this serves as a warning to all others, including overseas investors to be more cautious in future about putting their hard-earned money in this country, especially those managed and helmed by shady characters from Umno who are out to rip them.

We are pathetic in dealing with those who have suffered losses, and as such we hope the British government would pursue the case, or seek legal recourse for the investors to redeem their losses.

Be mindful of the maxims though - "Better to be safe than sorry" and "Invest in haste and regret at leisure".

This ex-Umno high level official had disgraced the reputation of Malaysia. Maybe he acquired the ideas whilst in office (Umno) and applied it internationally, hoping to succeed.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Despite being ridiculed by foreigners who have lost investment here, we still have leaders who are proud and pompous.

If the protest were to take place in Malaysia, we would have seen the entire arsenal of the police force harassing the protesters but since it was in London, it is nice to hear that it took place with police permission.

This is Malaysia, dear Britons, the well-connected cannot be touched at all. They can plunder, siphon, mark up or call it by whatever name - in Malaysia, they are safe as long as you have the right connections.

Oriole: Intriguing. Similar stories about con jobs on UK properties, especially student accommodation - there are quite a few dodgy operators in Malaysia trying to stick these properties on gullible Malaysians.

Heavenly King: The BN government will say the foreign investors are only a small group of unhappy people.

Others are rushing to invest in Malaysia because of its impeccable record of near-zero corruption, independent judiciary and efficient civil service.

Indeed, ruling politicians and officers at every level are eager to help - themselves, that is.
