Following complaints by PAS of being sidelined by the DAP-led Penang administration, PKR has joined the fray by saying that the Islamist party too shouldn't sideline them in Kelantan where it is dominant.

"In light of the recent complaints by PAS of being sidelined in Penang, I take this opportunity to urge Pakatan Rakyat at the state level including Penang and Kelantan...to take notice of state assemblypersons from PKR who are similarly sidelined in the decision making process of the states," said Machang Bubok state assemblyperson Lee Khai Loon.

Lee who was representing Penang made the urge when debating amendments to PKR's party constitution at the party's special congress today at Shah Alam.

Sarcastic response

Kelantan's representative Saharun Ibrahim was more sarcastic in his response to PAS' grouses.

"In Kelantan, PKR's role is limited while in Penang, PAS role is limited. But in Penang, the sole PAS state assemblyperson is made the number one person in charge of religious affairs and is allowed to handle RM70 million in allocations.

"So how is it? Is there a problem in Kelantan or is there a problem in Penang?" He queried.

PAS' sole assemblyperson Mohd Salleh Man in Penang is the state's religious council chairperson.

PKR too has only one state seat in PAS-led Kelantan while DAP has none.

Stopping short of hitting out at PAS, Saharun urged the party to air its grouses through proper channels.

PAS had complained of being left out of the decision making process in DAP-led Penang and this was again raised during its Muktamar yesterday.
