The Selangor menteri besar is standing his ground in the face of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's suggestion that the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) decision on Azmin Ali be reversed.

Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said while the matter is being probed, the decision to drop Azmin and other members stands until the matter is resolved.

"Until a final decision is made by the exco, the position of affected members of the PKNS board remains as per the instruction by the PKNS general manager, so as to avoid further legal complications."

However, he said his office and the exco have the "responsibility to correct any flaw or mishandling of actions related to this matter" and is seeking clarification from those who had made the decision.

"As such, the PKNS general manager and the company secretary will be summoned to explain as to why such a situation has occurred and how the conflict has flared up to this extent," said Khalid in a statement today.

Malaysiakini first reported the news that Azmin had received a letter on January 8 that he has been dropped as a member of PKNS board of directors. Azmin, the MP for Gombak and state assemblyperson for Bukit Antarabangsa, had previously set his sight on becoming Selangor MB.

On Wednesday, Khalid told reporters after an Selangor exco meeting that Azmin's dismissal was not political but a decision made by PKNS general manager Othman Omar ( left ) and he would provide proof in a fortnight.

However, PKNS turned around and said that Azmin's contract was not renewed on orders from the state exco, which decided on November 13 last year and confirmed it on December 4.

Othman himself is due to end his services by the end of this month.

In an immediate reaction, Anwar Ibrahim had called for a withdrawal of the letter since nobody owned up to it and the reasons were unclear. Azmin, who was with Anwar when he made this call at the PKR headquarters, was tight-lipped.

While calling for a review of the decision, Khalid did not give a deadline for now.

"As this is not a matter of public urgency, the state government requests the public to maintain calm and remain patient while awaiting the decision of the exco,"  the statement said.

PKNS, a state-owned conglomerate, is a major property developer and an investor in key businesses in Selangor.
