The police have identified two people who allegedly made criminal threats against DAP's Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
The duo will be called in soon to assist with the investigations, theSunDaily reported today.
The duo supposedly made those threats directed at Kok during a protest last week against Kok's controversial Chinese New Year satire video.
Khairul, however, said although criminal intimidation is an arrestable offence, police will need to examine the case for evidence of intent before taking action.
"When a police report is lodged, it does not mean we have to go out there and arrest people. The case must be studied before deciding if there is a need to do so," theSun quoted Khairul as saying.
The threats are believed to be related to the initial RM500 offer to
slap Kok
, made by several Malay NGOs during a protest on Feb 6.
The offer has since been increased to RM1,200
The newspaper quoted Khairul as saying that police will also call in Kok for questioning tomorrow.
Kok, however, told Malaysiakini that police have yet to contact her on the matter.
"I was surprised to get the news alert. I have also checked with my lawyer Sankara Nair, but police have not contacted us," she said.
Yesterday, the police had questioned three actors who were hired to act in the video that Kok had posted on YouTube last month.
The video content did not go down well with ministers, BN leaders and several Malay NGOs who lodged police reports against the parliamentarian.
